From old-school cartridges to today’s cloud gaming, 2025 highlighted the incredible progress video games have made in recent decades. The year featured a fantastic selection of nominees, including intense action games and expertly crafted platformers.
With so many amazing games available, the real winners are the players. They’re the ones who get to lose themselves in fantastic virtual worlds and enjoy the incredible work of dedicated game developers.
Wow, the multiplayer game competition for 2025 was tough! I was really rooting for ARC Raiders, and I was so happy to see them win at The Game Awards. But honestly, even though they took home the prize, there were a bunch of other fantastic games in the running that I really loved too – it’s a shame they didn’t win, but they were still amazing!
Our team at TopMob has put together a list of the best multiplayer games released in 2025, highlighting some hidden gems that we think deserve more attention.
Although each ‘Game of the Year’ list is written by an individual TopMob writer, the games included and their order were decided by a vote from all of our writers. This means the list represents the collective opinion of TopMob, and may not perfectly reflect the views of any single writer.

5. Mario Kart World
Racing Royalty
As a huge Mario Kart fan, I was so excited when Mario Kart World was announced! It’s amazing to think it all started back in 1992 with the original Super Mario Kart on Super Nintendo. Now, after all these years and so much new technology, this new game takes everything to a whole new level. The best part? All the tracks are connected in one big, seamless world – it’s a dream come true!

3. Split Fiction
Creative Co-op Concept
Split Fiction offers a remarkably unique gaming experience. Players take on the roles of two writers – Mio, who specializes in science fiction, and Zoe, a fantasy author – who find themselves unexpectedly inside the stories they’ve created.
