The teams Gen.G and Talon, who triumphed in the 2024 Pacific Stage 2, have been moved to the lower bracket of the VCT Pacific Kickoff. They will compete against each other in the Upper Final. The victor from this match will earn a place at Masters Bangkok.
As a gamer, I took control on the first map, Fracture, against Talon, leading comfortably to a 13-5 win. But Talon retaliated strongly on Bind, clinching victory with a powerful 13-4 scoreline, making our series a nail-biter. Haven was a tight battle, with T1 grabbing an early 8-2 lead. Talon made a valiant effort to come back, but in the end, they just couldn’t match our pace, and I secured the map for T1 with a 13-9 victory, pushing us towards the decisive third map.
In the post-match interview, Stax shared, “I felt confident with all our preparation, but there was still some stage nerves. We had slip-ups now and then, which might have given the impression that we weren’t at our best or delivering top performances. However, my occasional harshness towards my teammates seems to jolt them back into focus. I accept this personal challenge for the sake of the team, so we can improve our performance together.
DRX emerged victorious against Gen.G with a score of 2-0, but the match wasn’t a complete one-way street. DRX secured Abyss with a score of 13-9, but Gen.G fought back fiercely on Bind, taking the map to overtime in a thrilling showdown. Unfortunately for them, they fell just short of claiming victory.
Reflecting on the past year, it was disappointing that we missed out on Masters Shanghai and other major tournaments, as we had lost to Gen.G. They seemed to always mount a late comeback, while we let victory slip through our fingers. Today, during overtime, we reminded ourselves not to repeat last year’s mistakes and told ourselves, ‘We can do this! We don’t want to lose again.’ I am incredibly pleased that we managed to pull off the win,” said BeYN.
The match between DRX and T1 is scheduled for February 7, which you can watch live on the official Twitch and YouTube channels of the Valorant Champions Tour Pacific.
