A raccoon broke into a liquor store, raided the booze, and ended up passed out in the bathroom.
It’s rarely a good idea when animals, particularly wild ones, wander into stores. We’ve all heard stories about the trouble they can cause – like the monkey that created chaos or the alligator that attempted to enter a Walmart.
However, a recent event at the Ashland ABC Store in Virginia was surprisingly funny, and it quickly became a viral sensation online.
Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter discovered a raccoon unconscious in a bathroom after it broke into a liquor store. The raccoon caused a mess, apparently tasted some alcohol, and then passed out, as if it had a wild night.
Drunk raccoon found passed out in store bathroom
Officer Martin arrived on the scene Saturday morning after receiving a call. The broken bottles and spilled alcohol indicated a break-in and significant damage to the property.

Upon closer inspection, he discovered the supposed “suspect” was actually a raccoon hiding in the bathroom.
The thief, nicknamed the “masked bandit,” reportedly became very drunk after sampling various alcoholic beverages in the store and fell asleep on the floor.
After the incident, he was transported back to the shelter “to sober up before questioning.”
The suspect seemed to be in good condition, with no visible injuries, although they may have had a hangover or made some regrettable decisions.
After its stay at the shelter, the raccoon was finally returned to the wild, with staff playfully hoping it had realized that burglary isn’t the way to solve problems.
Naturally, the story blew up fast, and people couldn’t help but crack some jokes about it.
A Facebook user jokingly commented that a raccoon needs a sponsor, saying it’s living a wild life. They described how the raccoon caused a mess, then passed out near a toilet, but wasn’t charged with anything – something the user wished they could experience themselves.
