Drunk fishermen under fire for jumping on dead whale in viral video

Two fishermen are receiving widespread criticism after posting a TikTok video of themselves joking around, posing for pictures, and even climbing on top of a deceased whale they found in the ocean.

A video originally posted to TikTok by user trinitunafishing01 shows a group of men finding a whale while boating. They then swam out and stood on the whale’s body to take pictures. The men appear to be drunk in the video.

The video was taken down from TikTok almost immediately, but it quickly resurfaced on other platforms like X, where it’s been seen by millions and caused a lot of anger.

The situation worsened when the person who shared the video confessed the group had been drinking and said the whale hadn’t been dead long. They explained, “It wasn’t decayed, it had just died and we were drunk, haha.”

Fishermen blasted for posing with dead whale

People were upset by the men’s actions, calling them disrespectful and disturbing. Many criticized them for using a dead whale as a background for social media photos. Others pointed out that whales are protected by law and it’s dangerous and illegal to interact with them.

Influencer Amiri King addressed the issue, suggesting that the individuals involved might have broken the law protecting marine mammals.

A shocking new video shows two intoxicated fishermen standing on top of a deceased whale. The person who filmed it joked that the whale might explode. They also mentioned the whale hadn’t begun to decompose and likely died recently, noting it didn’t have a strong odor, simply stating, “Wasn’t rotten, just…”

He explained that violating the law still carries significant penalties: protection under the Marine Mammal Protection Act remains in place, and offenders could face a $100,000 fine, up to a year in jail, and loss of their boat.

Someone commented that standing on a dead whale is incredibly disrespectful and a clear example of people doing anything for online attention – this trend of seeking fame at any cost has gone too far.

Someone commented that the situation was incredibly dangerous, questioning how anyone could be unaware of the risks associated with decaying whale carcasses.

Sometimes, whales appear to “explode” because gases build up inside their bodies as they decompose. However, since this whale reportedly died recently, that’s probably not what happened in this case.

trinitunafishing01 hasn’t responded to the strong public criticism, and it’s currently unknown if the police or other authorities are looking into the situation.
