As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for JRPGs and a soft spot for innovative combat systems, I can’t help but feel my heart skip a beat at the prospect of Dreams Uncorporated‘s upcoming masterpiece, Prisma. The idea of controlling multiple versions of a character from different dimensions, each with unique abilities, is not only intriguing but also promises to offer a level of depth and replayability that I crave in my gaming experiences.
Earlier this year, Dreams Uncorporated unveiled more details about their game Prisma, including gameplay footage. In this game, players assume the role of multiple versions of a character named Alma from various universes. Each version possesses a unique Prism Shard and perceives the world differently. Some of these Almas are friendly, while others act as NPCs or even adversaries. The player’s Alma must choose her own path, forging relationships and discovering different routes to return home.
One significant aspect that makes this game appealing is its high replay value. The narrative branches based on the relationships you build with the Almas, leading to distinct party compositions for each playthrough. Consequently, the sidequests accessible to you will vary accordingly. Since you can only fully develop your connection with four Almas per playthrough, multiple plays are necessary to grasp the full story. Each Alma you befriend brings unique abilities to the table, and your protagonist, also an Alma, has the ability to adjust her perception of reality, influencing combat dynamics.
Prisma will launch on PC (Steam) sometime in the future. A release window has not yet been set.
Prisma
In the realm of gaming, I’ve found myself immersed in Prisma – a mesmerizing 2D JRPG that takes me on an extraordinary journey as Alma, a young journalist. What sets this game apart is the unique ability for my consciousness to intertwine with multiple trapped versions of myself from alternate dimensions. Each of these selves comes equipped with distinct abilities that reveal themselves in combat. The strategic switching between them allows me to unlock fresh powers and strategies.
