Dragon Quest VII Reimagined: All Mini Medal Locations

If you enjoy Japanese role-playing games, or JRPGs, you’re used to finding tons of collectible items throughout the game. And if you’ve played any Dragon Quest titles, you probably know that Mini Medals are famous – or infamous – for being among the most numerous of these collectibles.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined features the return of Mini Medals, but finding them is more straightforward this time around. The game now tells you if a Mini Medal is hidden in an area, saving you from having to search every container without knowing if one is actually there.

The game doesn’t give you hints about where to find the Mini Medals. That’s why I’ve created this guide, showing the location of every single one in Dragon Quest VII Reimagined. It’ll help you collect them all easily and claim your rewards!

This guide presents the game’s story in order, so you can use it to help you play from the beginning.

Estard Castle – Level 2

Mini Medal #1

You can find the first Mini Medal inside Estard Castle. Head to the second floor and step out onto the balcony. Then, go down the nearest stairs and enter the king’s chambers. The medal is hidden inside one of the drawers.

The Tower – Level 6 (Past)

Mini Medal #2

As you climb The Tower, you’ll have to go through Level 6. Don’t continue north – instead, head south until you find a chest containing a Mini Medal.

Ballymolloy (Present)

Mini Medal #3

Once you’ve taken a boat to the new island and come back to Ballymolloy, check behind the church for a pot – the medal will be inside.

Estard Castle

Once you’ve talked to Dermot and used the raft to find a new piece of the artifact, don’t go into the castle dungeon immediately. First, walk along the grassy area by the drawbridge – you’ll find a Mini Medal in a pot there.

Burnmont (Past)

When you get to Level 5 of Burnmont, jump down into the center crater. Then, once you’re on Level 3, find the chest in the southern corner to get the Mini Medal.

Emberdale: Inn (Present)

Go to the Inn in Emberdale today and look in the closet in the back room – you’ll find it there.

Burnmont (Present)

Go back to Burnmont in the present and descend into the central crater until you reach Level 1 – the same place where you battled the boss. You’ll find a Mini Medal inside the chest furthest to the west. The other chests remain locked, but here’s a guide on how to unlock all of them in Dragon Quest VII Reimagined.

Regenstein – Underground Level 1 (Past)

To reach Regenstein quickly, first find the Grey Fragment in present-day Burnmont. This will start a short side quest in the village. Once you finish that quest, you’ll be able to go down to Felix’s hidden base and find a Mini Medal inside one of the chests.

Unnamed Island (Regenstein Region – Present)

Once you finish the previous side quest, return to the present day and sail south of Pilchard Bay to the Unnamed Isle. You’ll find this Mini Medal – a bright, sparkling object – in the ruins of the former town of Regenstein.

L’Arca: House (Past)

When you arrive in L’Arca, head to the first house on the east side. You’ll discover a Mini Medal hidden inside a wardrobe.

Grotta del Sigillo – Level 5 (Past)

While exploring the Grotta del Sigillo, you’ll come across an exit on Level 4. Don’t take it! Instead, go up the stairs in the northeast corner to reach Level 5, where you’ll discover a chest containing the medal.

L’Arca Region: Dock (Present)

In the L’Arca Region now, a new building called the Dock has appeared on the island. Go inside and to the wharf area, where you can break a barrel to find a Mini Medal.

Grotta del Sigillo (Present)

Your task is to revisit the Grotta del Sigillo. Once you’re on the highest outdoor level of the dungeon, don’t go into the boss’s cave. Continue climbing to Level 5, where you’ll find a chest containing the medal.

Institute of Automatry: Storeroom (Present)

Once you reach the Frobisher Region in the current time, go to the Institute of Automatry and locate a Mini Medal hidden inside one of the pots in the storeroom.

Central Frobisher (Present)

While you’re still in the Frobisher Region, go to the village and enter the north door of the garrison. Break or search around inside to find a Mini Medal.

Automaton Stronghold – Level 1 (Present)

Go to the Automaton Stronghold and go inside. On the west side, you’ll find two pots. One holds the Mini Medal, and the other triggers a fight with an Urnexpected – a cleverly named enemy!

Pool of Piety (Present)

The Frobisher area is proving lucky! Head east over the bridge and into the Pool of Piety, then look for a Mini Medal near a tree to the north.

Roamer Encampment (Past)

When you reach the Roamer Encampment, go south and find the woman standing on a rug. Break one of the pots nearby to receive the medal.

Poolside Cave – Underground Level 2 (Past)

Eventually, the story will guide you to the Poolside Cave. Once you’re on Underground Level 1, you can choose to go down the stairs or jump into one of the holes. Look for a shiny gold spot on the floor – that’s where you’ll find this medal.

Dig Site (Present)

Head to the Roamer Encampment today and check out the new Dig Site area to the east. Pay the entrance fee to go inside the tent, then exit through the back and go down the well. You’ll find the Mini Medal inside a closet down there.

Roamer Encampment Region (Present)

Okay, so I found this Mini Medal on a super small island near Cape Overlooking the Ocean. If you zoom in on that area on the map, your ship actually spawns right next to the island – makes it really easy to grab!

Pilgrim’s Rest (Past)

As you travel to Alltrades Abbey, be sure to stop at Pilgrim’s Rest. Hidden behind the single building there, you can break a barrel to find a medal.

Pilgrim’s Perdition (Past)

Once you reach Pilgrim’s Perdition, go to the roof of the southernmost house and break the pot.

Western Cave – Level 2 (Past)

Okay, so after you finish Pilgrim’s Perdition, you’ll want to head to the Western Cave dungeon. Once you get to Level 2, make sure you check out the chest in the southern part of the level – that’s where you’ll find this medal! It’s easy to miss, but definitely worth grabbing.

Precipice Pass (Past)

When you leave the Western Cave, you’ll find yourself in Precipice Pass. Turn left and go west to find a Mini Medal lying on the ground.

Dungeon of Descent – Underground Level 2 (Past)

Once you’ve made it through Precipice Pass, head to the Dungeon of Descent. Once you reach Underground Level 2, go south and you’ll find a small room with some monsters relaxing. In that room, you’ll find a pot containing the Mini Medal.

Tunnel to the Abbey – Underground Level 2 (Past)

Follow the High Priestess through the tunnel leading to the Abbey. Once you reach Underground Level 2, you’ll enter a room filled with urns. Smash them all until you find a Mini Medal hidden inside one.

Alltrades Abbey – Basement Level 1 (Past)

After finishing the main event at Alltrades Abbey, go down to the basement – all the doors will be open. Enter the door on the west side and exit out the other side. Then, carefully cross the floor with the lightning to find a chest containing the Mini Medal.

Pilgrim’s Perdition (Past)

Okay, so I went back to my house and into the item shop. Turns out that chest that was locked earlier is now open! I grabbed the Mini Medal inside – sweet!

Pilgrim’s Rest: Inn (Present)

If you’re currently in the Alltrades Abbey area, visit the inn at Pilgrim’s Rest. You can now open a locked chest there with your Thief’s Key, and inside you’ll find a Mini Medal.

Ruins Near Alltrades Abbey (Present)

You can find the Mini Medal near Alltrades Abbey. Head to the ruins and look for it on the ground by a tree on the west side.

Bandit’s Base: Interior (Present)

Once you’ve taken care of the enemies in the ruins, go to the Bandit’s Base. There, you’ll find a locked cell containing two chests. To open it and claim the Mini Medal hidden inside, first find the Bandit’s Key in a closet within the boss’s room.

La Bravoure: Treasure House (Present)

Head to the La Bravoure Region next. Once you arrive and see what’s happening with Honoré, follow him to the Treasure House. You’ll find a Mini Medal inside one of the chests.

Al-Balad: Storeroom – Basement Level 1 (Past)

Once you’ve finished everything in Al-Balad, the Elder will give you permission to collect the treasures from the storeroom. You’ll find a medal inside an urn located near the Blue Fragment.

Dig Site (Present)

Once you have the Care Package, go back to the Dig Site in the present. Go inside the tent, walk out the other side, and give the package to the muscular man waiting there. He’ll move aside, letting you smash some urns and discover the Mini Medal.

Temple Palace (Present)

When you reach the Temple Palace, you’ll first need to watch some introductory scenes. After you’re able to move around, go to the main temple area and break the urn located behind the building to find this item.

Roamer Encampment (Present)

Once you’ve given Donald the letter, head to the Roamer Encampment. You can find a Mini Medal hidden inside one of the urns near a tree in the northwest corner.

Temple Palace (Past)

After finishing the Roamer Encampment quests, go back to the Temple Palace from earlier. Talk to the Queen who is standing outside, and she’ll tell you about a secret room located behind where she is.

Go to that location and push the statue on the right side – it will open a hidden staircase. Go down the stairs and collect the treasure, including a Mini Medal.

Likeness of the Great Evil (Past)

While still in the Al-Balad Region, go to the Banks of the Nihil and talk to Hadid. He’ll take you to the Upper Reaches by raft. Once there, you can revisit the Likeness of the Great Evil and find a medal inside the chest to the right.

Wetlock: Waterway (Past)

To begin, head around the back of the northwest house to locate a staircase. From there, get on the raft and travel east into the Waterway. You’ll find a Mini Medal inside a single, isolated urn.

Hardlypool Region (Past)

Fly to Highendreigh Tower and land just outside. Then, collect the golden glimmer nearby to earn the medal.

Wetlock: Treasure Room (Past)

Once you’ve completed everything at Highendreigh Tower, head to the Wetlock treasure room and grab the chest. While you’re there, be sure to break the urn – you’ll find a Mini Medal inside!

Highendreigh Tower – Level 5 (Present)

Eventually, your journey will lead you back to Highendreigh Tower. When you get to Level 5, break the urn located in the northeastern part of the area.

Ruins West of Wilted Heart (Present)

Once you finish the initial Greenthumb Gardens activities, a new island will become available to the west of Emberdale in the current time period. You’ll need to travel there next.

Now known as the Wilted Heart Region, this island used to be Greenthumb Gardens. If you head west, you’ll discover some ruins where you can find an urn containing a Mini Medal.

Cave Near Wilted Heart (Past)

This substory is a little hidden, so follow along closely. In the Wilted Heart Region, climb the mountain next to the village to find the Regrette-Rien Convent. Examining the tombstones there will begin the next part of the story.

Returning to the Shrine of Mysteries and teleporting to Greenthumb Gardens will reveal two new locations: Wilted Heart and the Regrette-Rien Convent. You can find this Mini Medal in a cave on the Mountain Path, located behind the village of Wilted Heart.

La Bravoure: Cellar (Present)

Now, let’s get back to the game. Head to La Bravoure next. Once you show Colette the Mermaid Moon, she’ll lead you to a cellar in the village. You’ll find the Mini Medal inside a chest there.

Tombe de Héros Inconnus (Present)

Okay, so I’ve got the carpet now! Time to leave La Bravoure and head west, blasting the Aladdin soundtrack, of course. I’m flying towards the Tombe de Héros Inconnus, and apparently, there’s a Mini Medal hidden inside an urn there. Can’t wait to grab it!

Palazzo di Bulgio (Present)

Travel to L’Arca and go inside. Climb the carpet to head north until you reach the Palazzo di Bulgio. Once inside the mansion, go to the top floor to find a treasure chest containing the Magic Key. Then, go down one floor to find another treasure chest with the Mini Medal inside.

Estard (Present)

Head back to Estard and find the house between the Item Shop and Pike’s House. Go upstairs to the second floor – you’ll find a chest containing another Mini Medal! That makes a total of five – we’re doing great, adventurers!

Dig Site: Tent (Present)

Zoom to the Dig Site, enter the tent, and open the chest for another medal.

Likeness of the Great Spirit (Present)

Go to the Al-Balad Region and use your magic carpet to fly to the large statue of the Great Spirit on the western side. Go inside the sacred area and climb the stairs until you’re facing the statue. You’ll find a Mini Medal on your left.

The Tallest Tower – Level 3 (Present)

Eventually, your journey will take you to The Tallest Tower. While climbing, be sure to find the chest located in the center-north area of Level 3 – it contains a small medal.

The Tallest Tower – Level 7 (Present)

As you climb the tower, you’ll encounter many staircases, but they all lead to the same spot on Level 9. From Level 9, descend using the west staircase to reach Level 7, which is a room full of chests. The Mini Medal is located in a chest just south of the stairs you came down.

Rucker Castle (Past)

Okay, so my next stop is Rucker Castle – it’s the closest place to me in the Hubble Region. Once I get there, I need to find a well and jump down it to snag this medal. Sounds good!

Grand Conjuratorium: Hidden Room (Present)

Okay, so inside the Grand Conjuratorium’s main building, there’s this staircase hidden in the middle of a square-shaped room. The game gives you a clue – it says you need to “make a cross” to get to it. Here’s what I figured out to do that:

• Go outside the square and enter through the west entrance.
• Leave through the east exit.
• Enter through the north entrance.
• Leave through the south exit.

If you followed all the steps, a bridge should form when you head south. Go down the stairs and you’ll find a Mini Medal inside the chest in the south area.

Vogograd (Present)

Want to quickly earn five Mini Medals? Just complete all the substories in the Vogograd Region, and the island will become available in the present day.

Next, go to the graveyard and look at the furthest grave on the west side – it should be the resting place of a Medal Detector. If you can’t find them there, try looking on the bookshelf inside the woodcutter’s house, which is located below the church.

Aeolus Vale (Past)

As you explore Aeolus Vale, you’ll come to the eastern exit. Before leaving for the main world, go to the edge of the area to activate a message, then jump down to a pair of barrels. One of them holds a Mini Medal.

Custodians’ Camp: Well (Past)

Before going to the Sanctum, make a quick stop at the Custodians’ Camp. Investigate the well and defeat the Well Wisher monster that appears. Once you win, go down into the well. You’ll find the Mini Medal in the first closet you see down there.

The Beacon (Past)

To get this Mini Medal, climb The Beacon tower and leave through the south exit on the third level. You’ll find a chest there.

Buccanham Palace (Present)

You’ve likely already discovered the Turquoise Fragment by searching Buccanham Palace in the past – it was hidden behind a movable bookshelf. Now, in the present, head to the eastern house in Buccanham and examine the bookshelf lying on its side. You’ll find a hidden button that unlocks the path to a chest located outside.

Den of the Dwarves – Basement Level 3 (Present)

Okay, so you know how we found that Glowmoss down in the Den of the Dwarves? Well, head back there – all the way down to Level 3 – and instead of the Glowmoss, you’ll find a Mini Medal where it used to be! It’s a nice little find, trust me.

Altar of Arrival (Past)

When you first reach the Altar of Arrival, don’t immediately start the main task. Instead, go under the altar to find a Mini Medal on the ground.

Hardlypool Region (Present)

Okay, so now that I’ve got the Skystone, I’m headed to the Strange Shrine in the Hardlypool Region! I just read online that there’s a Mini Medal hidden nearby – it’s in the southeast corner of that area, but apparently it’s a bit tricky to get to. Definitely going to check that out before I go inside!

Dig Site (Present)

Keep going deeper into the Dig Site – on Level 3, you’ll discover a teleporter. Use it to reach a chest containing the item you’re looking for.

Cathedral of Light (Present)

You can find the Ultimate Key on the first basement level of the Cathedral of Light. This key unlocks all the locked chests in the game. Before you head out, be sure to open the southern cell – there’s an urn inside containing a medal.

Estard Castle: Dungeon (Present)

While at Estard Castle, go back to the boathouse where you started with the raft. From there, go around the moat to find the entrance to the dungeon. Inside, check one of the cells – you’ll find a Mini Medal in an urn.

Estard Castle: Treasure Room (Present)

You can find the Mini Medal in a chest within the treasure room. If you’re having trouble locating it, look for a staircase just past the first one you saw, south of the dining room.

Pilchard Bay: House (Present)

After talking to the sailor who mentions your father, go downstairs and open the chest.

Buccanham Palace: Throne Room (Present)

I found this medal in one of the chests in the throne room – I don’t remember seeing those chests there before, so maybe I just didn’t notice them earlier.

The Beacon – Top Level (Present)

Okay, so as a tip for anyone heading to the Guiding Light, I found a Mini Medal! You can find it on the top level – just check the northern area, it was lying right there.

Emberdale: Gaffer’s House (Present)

After the cutscene with Gaffer and Palmela, grab the chest right next to you.

Burnmont – Level 1 (Present)

The main story will take you through the deepest parts of Burnmont. While you’re exploring, be sure to open both chests on Level 1 – they contain a Mini Medal.

The Sea Dragon: Below Decks (Present)

On The Sea Dragon, find the stairs leading northeast or southeast from the deck. These will lead you to a treasure area. At the very south end of this area, you’ll see a cat enjoying a fish on top of a shield. Interact with the cat to get a Mini Medal.

Al-Balad: Elder’s House (Present)

There is a chest inside the Elder’s house waiting for your embrace.

Temple Palace – Basement Level 1 (Present)

Okay, so I just finished chatting with Queen Neferta. Now I need to go through the door that’s behind her, and then open the chest on the right side – that’s where I’ll find a Mini Medal!

Hidden Pyramid – Basement Level 1 (Present)

You’ll find this medal in a chest located in the northeast corner of Basement Level 1 of the Hidden Pyramid.

Aeolus Vale: Praetor’s House (Present)

Check the closet behind the Praetor to get this one.

Ventus Tower – Level 6 (Present)

When you’re climbing Ventus Tower and get to Level 5, you’ll find two staircases. Take the one on the east side, and you’ll appear right next to a chest containing a Mini Medal.

Villa Priores: Church (Present)

Honestly, I have no idea how to explain how to get there. Just go inside all the buildings, and when you see the church, head upstairs and break an urn.

King Scoober’s Domain (Present)

If you visit Estard Island, look for a whirlpool to the southeast. Sailing into it will take you to King Scoober’s Domain. Once there, go down the stairs and smash some urns – you’ll find a Mini Medal hidden inside!

Sunken Citadel (Present)

To get the Mini Medal, open the chest on the left near Gracos. If the chest is locked, try talking to Gracos first.

Hubble Castle: Dungeon (Present)

Go to Hubble Castle, go inside the Earth Tower, and go all the way down to the dungeon. Once there, open the cells and break open any urns you find.

Nottagen Cavern – Underground Level 3 (Past)

You can unlock this by completing the Nottagen substory. Start by traveling to the past and defeating the boss there. After that, return to the present and explore the Nottagen area until your team automatically triggers another trip to the past.

When you return to the village, you’ll find monster vines are attacking the villagers. This will lead you to the Nottagen Cavern. On Underground Level 3, open the chest furthest to the west to get a Mini Medal.

Nottagen (Present)

This next part jumps around in time a little, so please follow closely as we move between the present and the past.

Eventually, Nottagen village will become available today. Look behind the mansion’s tree to find the Mini Medal.

Wooded Hill (Present)

Now that you’re exploring the Nottagen Region, make your way to Wooded Hill and check out the large hole – you’ll find another medal there!

Rucker Region – Exposure Enclosure (Past)

When you gain access to the Exposure Enclosure, break one of the barrels to find a medal.

Cathedral of Blight (Present)

Begin exploring the Cathedral of Blight. Once you reach Level 6, exit through the south doorway. You’ll find a Mini Medal on the ground there.

Cathedral of Blight: Hellfire Hollow (Present)

The southernmost chest in the Hellfire Hollow houses this Mini Medal.

Cathedral of Blight: Chasm of Chaos (Present)

You can find the Mini Medal in the chest located in the southeastern part of the area. Completing the Wind dungeon beforehand will make all the bridges visible.

Another World (Present)

As you explore the strange and perilous world, the landscape will shift, eventually leading you back outdoors. Continue forward until you spot a glimmering area near a single fishing pole – it’s a Mini Medal!

Another World – Level 3 (Present)

Instead of heading towards the area with the troll, go into the closest entrance to access the Bandit’s Lair. The Mini Medal is located inside a closet in the very last room.

Another World: Shrine (Present)

Once you’ve beaten the mob boss in Another World, you can find a Mini Medal hidden in the chair behind where they were standing.

Yet Another World: Interior (Present)

This hidden area is tucked away inside another optional location. In the game Yet Another World, your goal is simple: activate four buttons and light some torches. But if you explore the dungeon within the well, you’ll find a lever you can pull in the northwest corner.

Okay, so once I did that thing, it unlocked both the inn and the house next door in Fake Estard. Turns out, both of those lead to the Fire Spirit dungeon – it’s like a copy of the original. And guess what? There’s another lever hidden in the northwest corner of that dungeon. Pulling it opens up even more doors back in Estard. It’s a bit of a puzzle, but totally worth it!

Once you’re back in town, go through those doors to reach the Water Spirit dungeon. You’ll find the Mini Medal inside the chest located in the north. Don’t forget to pull the lever nearby, it’s close to the chest on the eastern side.

Yet Another World: Interior (Present)

If you’ve solved the puzzles with the levers in the earlier dungeons, you’ll unlock the door to a new dungeon that holds the Item Shop. Once inside, head up the stairs in the southeast corner. Carefully cross the moving platforms, and then jump down into the center of the southwestern platform to land in a cell. You’ll find a chest inside containing a circular medal.

Yet Another World: House of the Big Boss (Present)

Okay, so I saved this last Mini Medal for a reason – it feels like the perfect way to finish things off. Basically, after you’ve hit all those pressure plates, a new portal will open in that house down by the docks. Head through it, and get ready to battle four tough bosses. Once you’ve beaten them all, you’ll find the house of the strongest opponent. Behind him are two urns, and thankfully, one of them holds the 100th and final Mini Medal! Seriously, that’s it! The hunt is finally over. What a relief!
