Square Enix recently revealed new screenshots for the Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, giving us a first look at how each game begins and showcasing some of the updated gameplay features. This comes after the release of a new trailer earlier today.

The remastered Dragon Quest I & II, featuring HD-2D graphics, will be available starting October 30th on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam.

Okay, so I’m super hyped because Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is coming out everywhere on October 30th, 2025! It’s basically a complete overhaul of the first two Dragon Quest games, and it’s all wrapped into one big adventure. It’s not just a graphical update either – they’ve added a whole new story, tons of new places to explore, dungeons to conquer, and enemies to fight. They’ve even thrown in some new gameplay stuff like sigils and scrolls, and battles are way more dynamic now. I’m really excited to finally see how the Erdrick Trilogy wraps up, and in this awesome HD-2D style!

Explore the lands of Alefgard, guided by a mysterious voice!
So, I woke up after this crazy dream with a voice telling me to head to Tantegel Castle. The king there told me about this hero, Erdrick, and that voice I heard, and basically sent me on a quest to find out more. I’m starting my search at Erdrick’s Hollow and the Shrine of Rain. I’ve been told to talk to everyone I meet as I travel around Alefgard – apparently, everyone has a piece of the legend of Erdrick to share, and I need to hear it all!

Stand against the encroaching evil threat and set out on an adventure with companions who are the descendants of Erdrick!
Word of trouble in Moonbrooke has reached Midenhall, breaking a long period of peace. As the prince of Midenhall, you embark on a quest to discover what caused the disturbance. Your first task is to find others descended from Erdrick and travel with them to Moonbrooke.
Gather the living memories scattered across the ocean floor to uncover Alefgard’s unknown history and new truths!
While playing Dragon Quest II, you’ll encounter fairies who need your help. They’ll ask you to find lost memories at the bottom of the ocean, which will reveal the story of Alefgard.
