Dragon Ball Super New Anime Sequel Finally Confirmed

After almost 10 years, a new Super anime sequel is finally confirmed to be in production.

A new Dragon Ball Super anime is officially in the works! The announcement was made at Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri, a huge event celebrating the 40th anniversary of Dragon Ball in Japan on January 25, 2026. Masako Nozawa, the voice of Goku, and Akio Iyoku, an executive producer on the series, were there to share the exciting news. This new anime will be the first since the passing of Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama in 2024.

Rumors started spreading online in late December 2025 about a new animated project related to Dragon Ball Super – potentially a continuation of the story or a high-quality remake of the 2015 series. This new anime sequel was one of several exciting announcements made at the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event.

The new anime film, Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, features story contributions from the late Akira Toriyama and Toyotaro.

This new story takes place after the ‘Universe Survival Arc’ of the anime Dragon Ball Super, which originally aired from 2015 to 2018, according to an official announcement.

I recently saw this storyline appear in the Dragon Ball manga, called the ‘Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc.’ It’s a really big adventure where Goku and Vegeta team up with the Galactic Patrol – they’re like the galaxy’s police force – to fight a powerful new villain named Moro, who literally eats planets!
