Pepsi and Doritos are kicking off the holiday season a bit early this year, releasing new Gingerbread flavored products in October.
Although Christmas is still several months off, shoppers in the UK can now buy Gingerbread Pepsi Max and Gingerbread Doritos. Both flavors are available in stores starting today.
Unusual partnerships and limited-edition tastes are becoming increasingly popular in the food industry. We’ve seen everything from Oreo Coke and Burger King’s donut burger to even ice cream made with breast milk – it seems like no food combination is off-limits anymore.
Doritos & Pepsi push boundaries with Gingerbread flavors
People online have had varying reactions, with some expressing excitement about the holiday theme and others being shocked by the pairing.
“Gingerbread Doritos sounds illegal,” one person commented.
“I loved Pepsi Ginger. I hope this is the same,” another said.
Initial feedback indicates the Doritos have a subtle gingerbread taste that becomes more noticeable as you eat more. The Pepsi, on the other hand, is drawing comparisons to an alcoholic beverage, with some people finding that the ginger flavor “kind of works.”
This isn’t the first time either brand has experimented with unusual products. Previously this year, Pepsi collaborated with KFC Canada to launch “Pickled Pepsi” as part of a limited-time menu centered around pickles.
Doritos recently released a limited-edition Demogorgon black garlic dip as part of a collaboration with Stranger Things, timed to coincide with the show’s final season.
I’m not sure if this Gingerbread Pepsi and Doritos combo is going to be a yearly thing like eggnog, or just another internet fad, but wow, people are already talking about it a lot! It’s definitely got everyone’s attention, and I’m curious to see if it sticks around. It’s interesting to watch how these things play out, honestly.
