On September 22nd, a DoorDash driver in Sweetwater, Texas, unknowingly helped police discover a hostage situation. The driver became concerned about a delivery to a motel and alerted authorities, leading to the discovery.

DoorDash offers a simple way to earn extra money, but it’s also known for some surprisingly funny delivery stories. Drivers have encountered everything from customers receiving two boxes of McDonald’s cheese to being asked to deliver just a single packet of salt, so you never know what each order will bring!

A delivery driver became concerned after dropping off an order at the Sweetwater Inn on Georgia Avenue around 11:30 a.m., according to reports from KTAB and KRBC. Although officials haven’t revealed what was delivered, witnesses say the order included items like trash bags, zip ties, bleach, and a hatchet.

When police arrived at the motel, they found a man barricaded in a room, refusing to cooperate and claiming to have a weapon. They also discovered a person being held hostage inside, who was safely rescued. However, after being freed, the rescued individual was arrested on an existing warrant for drug offenses and for not providing identification.
