Doom: The Dark Ages Promises Unprecedented Challenge with New Difficulty Settings!

In the upcoming game “Doom: The Dark Ages,” you’ll find an array of tougher game modes, which, when activated, promise to deliver the hardest gaming experience ever offered in the Doom series.

2016 was an extraordinary year for the iconic First-Person Shooter series, as Doom’s remake brutally burst onto the scene and captured many hearts. With millions of units sold and a follow-up released, we are now on the brink of another installment, with The Dark Ages setting the stage for its arrival in just a few weeks.

In this prequel, the creators at id Software strive to provide an entry point that’s easy for novices to grasp the backstory of the Doom Slayer. However, they are mindful not to overlook dedicated gamers in their approach.

In a private question-and-answer event, TopMob was privy to insights from experienced game creators Hugo Martin (Game Director) and Marty Stratton (Executive Producer). They shared their plans on how to make Doom: The Dark Ages an exceptionally challenging addition to the series.

New difficulty settings in Doom: The Dark Ages

As a devoted enthusiast, I’ve noticed that the traditional difficulty settings, spanning from “I’m Too Young to Die” to the intense “Ultra Nightmare,” remain unchanged. However, what sets The Dark Ages apart is its sophisticated approach to difficulty levels this time around.

Beyond the standard play mode, players now have several adjustments they can make to customize their gaming experience even further. For example, if you prefer a wider Parry Window for an easier gameplay, there’s an option to adjust it. If you want projectiles to move slower, giving you more time to react, you can also modify that setting accordingly.

In the past, we didn’t have many choices like we do now. As Stratton stated during our interview, “We’ve never provided access to such items before.

As a passionate gamer, I’m thrilled about one key feature this game offers: the ability to control the pace. In essence, it empowers us players to speed up or slow down each aspect of the game according to our liking, making every moment more immersive and tailored to our personal preferences.

Of course, you’ll notice that the quicker the gameplay speed, the tougher it becomes to land accurate shots, evade incoming attacks, and so on.

Stratton stated that by increasing the game speed and difficulty level, narrowing the time for successful parries, and altering the damage, one can design an extremely tough gaming encounter.

With Doom fans being so fond of challenges, it’s clear that these new gameplay and melee features in the prequel will only increase the excitement. We’re certain that players, once they’ve mastered these systems, will create incredibly difficult playthroughs. Personally, I can hardly contain my anticipation for the challenging 200% speed Ultra Nightmare run.
