Answer to “Pull this apart and make a wish” in Cookie Jam
It’s a little harder when the answer is a long word, but thankfully in Cookie Jam you don’t have to search through the whole alphabet to find it. So, let’s get right to it:
- Pull this apart and make a wish – Wishbone
Okay, so you know that little V-shaped bone inside a turkey? That’s called a wishbone, or a furcula if you want to get technical! It’s a total Thanksgiving tradition in my family. After everyone’s had their fill, we clean it off, let it dry, and then two people grab an end, make a wish in secret, and pull! Whoever gets the bigger piece is supposed to have their wish come true. It’s kinda silly, but it’s always a fun moment.
The tradition of pulling the wishbone started with ancient Romans and even earlier Etruscans, who believed bird bones brought good luck and could make wishes come true. European settlers brought this practice to America, where it became associated with Thanksgiving celebrations. Now, pulling the wishbone is a beloved and lighthearted tradition, blending a bit of superstition with friendly rivalry.
