Does ‘Black Phone 2’ Have a Post-Credits Scene?

The sequel to 2022’s *Black Phone* is now in theaters, leaving audiences wondering if this will be the final chapter of The Grabber’s story, or if more films are possible. *Black Phone 2* picks up three years after the first movie, with siblings Finney and Gwen once again facing terror from The Grabber, who has seemingly returned as a ghost. Given that director Scott Derrickson has experience with the Marvel Cinematic Universe and post-credits scenes, many viewers are anticipating a hint at a potential third film.

You can leave the theater as soon as *Black Phone 2* ends—there are no extra scenes after the credits. Just like the first *Black Phone* movie, there’s no hint of what might happen next or any bonus content after the credits roll.

How Does ‘Black Phone 2’ End?

Universal Pictures

In *Black Phone 2*, Finney and Gwen learn more about the Grabber’s past. They discover his real name was Wild Bill Hickok and that he used to work with Finney and Gwen’s mother, Hope, at a winter camp. The film also reveals the Grabber was responsible for Hope’s death. This makes the events of the first movie feel less like a random crime and more like a personal attack.

Now that The Grabber’s evil spirit has returned, Gwen and Finney understand they must find the remains of his first three victims, who are hidden under the ice at Alpine Lake, to finally defeat him. While Gwen battles The Grabber in a dream, Finney, their father Terrence, camp counselor Armando, and Ernesto – the brother of one of the original victims – search for the bodies. As they recover the remains, The Grabber weakens, and Gwen, aided by the spirits of his first victims, is able to destroy him for good.

In the movie’s closing scene, Gwen returns home and receives a phone call on the Black Phone from her mother, who expresses her pride. Earlier, we learn Gwen’s mother also possessed psychic abilities. This establishes a family history for Gwen’s powers and clarifies how Finney was able to communicate with the deceased through the Black Phone in the first film. It seems both siblings inherited this special gift from their mother.

That concludes *Black Phone 2*. The movie doesn’t have a last-minute scare or suggest the villain, The Grabber, will be back in another film, making it seem like the story is complete. However, horror movies often prove that monsters aren’t really gone for good. The first *Black Phone* also felt like a standalone film, but its success at the box office led to a sequel. If *Black Phone 2* performs well, a third movie is possible. As it stands, *Black Phone 2* provides a satisfying conclusion to the series and is now showing in cinemas.
