‘Doctor Who’ Season 2 Teaser: Varada Sethu Joins Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson in the Whoniverse

As a movie buff with a penchant for sci-fi and time travel narratives, I must say that the latest developments in “Doctor Who” have me absolutely thrilled! The introduction of Varada Sethu as Belinda Chandra adds an exciting new dynamic to the series, and the teaser for Season 2 promises an epic quest unlike any other.

There’s officially a new companion in the Whoniverse.

The initial sneak peek for the second season of “Doctor Who” on Disney+ and BBC presents Varada Sethu as Belinda Chandra, who firmly tells Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor, “You have to take me home!” The preview hints at an impending apocalyptic attack, showing spaceships and robots wandering around as Gatwa shouts, “What on earth is this?!” Additionally, Gibson’s character Ruby Sunday, who was a companion in the previous season, is seen in the clip, putting to rest speculation that she wouldn’t appear again.

The upcoming season’s summary reveals that the Doctor will encounter Belinda Chandra and embark on an extraordinary journey to bring her back to Earth. However, a perplexing entity is obstructing their homecoming, forcing our time-traveling TARDIS crew to confront perils, adversaries, and horrors of unprecedented scale.

The premiere of “Joy to the World” took place on Wednesday, right after this year’s “Doctor Who” Christmas special had its initial airing. In this episode, the “Bridgerton” actress Nicola Coughlan joins forces with the Doctor for a thrilling dinosaur-themed escapade.

In the story, Coughlan portrays Joy, a character who unintentionally unearths a concealed entrance to the Time Hotel within a London hotel. This revelation leads her to encounter peril, dinosaurs, and the Doctor. The summary continues, hinting at a lethal scheme that coincides with Christmas. One wonders what’s happening in Joy’s room? An ancient adversary of the Doctor is lurking, and the fate of all human history hangs in the balance. Will the Doctor be able to protect Christmas across the globe simultaneously?

Russell T Davies takes on the role of both showrunner and executive producer for the series “Doctor Who.” Joining him in these roles are Joel Collins, Phil Collinson, Julie Gardner, and Jane Tranter. The production company responsible is Bad Wolf, working alongside BBC Studios for Disney Branded Television, as well as airing on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
