As a long-time fan of gripping medical dramas and someone who has had the misfortune of suffering memory loss myself, I am genuinely excited about Fox’s upcoming series “Doc.” The trailer for this show promises an emotional rollercoaster that tugs at the heartstrings while also delivering on the procedural aspects.
Fox has unveiled the preview for “Doc,” an upcoming medical drama featuring Molly Parker, who is known for her roles in “Deadwood” and “House of Cards.
The series is modeled on the popular Italian show “Doc – In Your Hands,” and it’s based on real-life events. In this production, Parker assumes the role of Dr. Amy Elias, who serves as the head of internal and family medicine at Westside Hospital in Minneapolis. After enduring a brain injury that erases the last eight years from her memory, she must work to rebuild her life.
Watch the trailer below.
The logline reads:
Following a brain injury that wiped out the past eight years from her memory, Amy finds herself in an unfamiliar landscape devoid of any recollection of the patients she treated, the professional relationships she forged, her ex-spouse, the man who now holds her heart, and the event that led to her social isolation. With only her estranged 17-year-old daughter, whom she remembers as a 9-year-old, and a few steadfast friends for support, Amy endeavors to carry on with her medical practice, despite the substantial loss of knowledge and experience spanning nearly a decade.
This intense medical drama additionally features actors like Omar Metwally, Amirah Vann, Jon Ecker, and Anya Banerjee. Moreover, Scott Wolf and Patrick Walker make frequent appearances.
The series titled “Doc” will make its debut on Fox on January 7th. You can catch it every Tuesday evening at 9 PM Eastern Time. The production of this series is overseen by Hank Steinberg, known for his work on “For Life” and “Without a Trace”, Barbie Kligman, who has worked on shows like “Magnum P.I.” and “Private Practice”, and Erwin Stoff, renowned for his work on “I Am Legend” and “The Matrix”. Additionally, Kligman also takes on the role of showrunner. The series is a joint production between Sony Pictures Television and FOX Entertainment Studios.
