Before the release of Last Rites, it seemed unlikely that New Line and Warner Bros. would end the hugely successful horror franchise, which had already earned $2.2 billion. If audiences continue to enjoy these films in theaters, New Line and Warner Bros. will keep making more movies in The Conjuring universe. The success of Last Rites, which earned nearly $500 million worldwide, ensures that we’ll see future installments in some form.
