Lucasfilm, a division of Disney, recently released a trailer for the upcoming film, The Mandalorian and Grogu, but it was met with strong criticism. Disney has since addressed the negative feedback.
The new movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu, will be in theaters May 22nd. It continues the story from the Disney+ series The Mandalorian, following Din Djarin (the Mandalorian) and Grogu as they journey through a galaxy rebuilding after the Empire’s defeat.
The first trailer appeared during the Super Bowl, briefly showing Din Djarin (Mando) and Grogu riding Tauntauns through a snowy landscape. However, the short teaser didn’t impress many viewers, and Disney officials had to publicly support their new film in response to the negative feedback.
According to Jackson George, Disney’s head of creative marketing, Grogu – often called ‘Baby Yoda’ – has become a huge part of pop culture. Paired with the Mandalorian, he adds a sense of fun, warmth, and instant connection that goes beyond just the show. This Super Bowl ad is a celebration of how much people love these characters and what makes Star Wars special – its excitement, heart, and grand scale. It’s a quick preview of the adventure fans will have when the Mandalorian and Grogu return to the big screen.
