Disney+ has announced nine new Marvel and Star Wars shows coming to the streaming service this year. The announcement came with a preview of content planned through 2026. 2025 was a successful year for Disney+, with a lot of new live-action and animated shows released under the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars brands.
In 2024, Marvel launched the first seasons of shows like Ironheart, Daredevil: Born Again, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Star Wars fans enjoyed the final season of Andor and a new installment of Star Wars: Visions Volume 3. Both Marvel and Star Wars are expected to continue releasing popular streaming shows on Disney+ in 2026.

Wonder Man

Marvel’s first Disney+ series in 2026 will be Wonder Man, an eight-episode show featuring Simon Williams as a brand-new MCU superhero. Premiering all at once on January 27th, the series follows Simon’s attempt to become the lead actor in a Wonder Man movie reboot, all while secretly dealing with developing superpowers.
The series Wonder Man features a return appearance by Trevor Slattery, who becomes friends with Simon. However, Slattery might be working against Simon, as he’s secretly tasked by the Department of Damage Control to monitor him.
Beyond the interesting relationship between Simon and Trevor, the new Marvel show will also tackle the idea of people getting tired of superheroes, and give viewers a look at the fictional Hollywood world within the Marvel Universe.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2

I’m really excited for the second season of Daredevil: Born Again! It’s coming to Disney+ this March, and from what I understand, it picks up right after that crazy cliffhanger from last year. Apparently, Wilson Fisk has really cracked down and put New York City under martial law, which means Daredevil and his friends have had to go underground to avoid a new task force hunting vigilantes. It sounds like things are about to get intense!
Following Frank Castle’s appearance in the first season, Daredevil is getting another ally in Season 2. Marvel has confirmed that Jessica Jones will join Charlie Cox’s Daredevil to tackle the danger posed by Wilson Fisk and his organization.
Maul: Shadow Lord

The new animated series, Maul: Shadow Lord, is expected to be a major release for Star Wars on streaming platforms, picking up Darth Maul’s story after the Clone Wars.
Darth Maul will return in 2026, primarily seeking to regain control of the galaxy’s criminal organizations as the Galactic Empire grows stronger. A key feature of the upcoming series, Shadow Lord, is a completely new animation style designed to make it visually distinct from other Star Wars animated shows.
The Ninth Jedi

Star Wars Visions Presents: The Ninth Jedi is a fascinating new Star Wars story. It’s set about a thousand years after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, making it the furthest point in the Star Wars timeline explored so far.
The new Star Wars: Visions spin-off centers on Kara, the daughter of a famous lightsaber maker, Lah Zhima. She’s tasked with delivering newly created lightsabers to a powerful leader named Margrave Juro.
Punisher Special Presentation

Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as Frank Castle in a new special presentation, The Punisher. This special continues the story after a scene following the credits of Daredevil: Born Again, where Frank Castle manages to break free from a prison run by Mayor Fisk.
This special presentation follows Frank as he lives in New York City under martial law and confronts his past. He’ll encounter Ma Gnucci, a powerful and dangerous villain seeking revenge for his previous takedown of her criminal organization.
VisionQuest

The upcoming series, VisionQuest, will wrap up the story begun in WandaVision. It will focus on White Vision, played by Paul Bettany, as he searches for meaning and a new direction now that he has all his memories back from the end of WandaVision.
The new series will feature familiar characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, but with a twist – they’ll all appear as humans. Expect to see Ultron, JARVIS, FRIDAY, and DUM-E reimagined in human form.
X-Men ’97 Season 2

Season 2 of X-Men ’97 will reunite the main team of mutants as they grapple with the consequences of the shocking events at the end of Season 1. After their failed effort to stop Asteroid M from collapsing, the team members were scattered throughout different time periods.
Okay, so the story itself is really grabbing me, but the finale just blew things wide open! Not only did we finally get a proper introduction to Apocalypse as the big bad for the X-Men, but get this – Gambit, who we thought was gone, is coming back as one of Apocalypse’s Horsemen! Seriously, that cliffhanger has me completely hooked and eager to see what happens next.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2

The second season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is coming to Disney+ later this year with more action and danger. It will focus on Peter Parker as he faces off against a variety of villains, including Chameleon and Norman Osborn.
Bringing Gwen Stacy into the story as Spider-Gwen is exciting because it creates a fresh and interesting partnership with Peter Parker as they work together to defend New York City from danger.
Ahsoka Season 2

Even though it wasn’t initially announced as a 2026 release, Disney+ has confirmed that Ahsoka Season 2 will premiere this year. It will be joined by Maul: Shadow Lord and Star Wars Visions Presents: The Ninth Jedi.
Fans are eagerly awaiting Season 2 of Ahsoka. The first season ended with a major cliffhanger, leaving Ahsoka and Sabine Wren stranded on the faraway planet Peridea. At the same time, the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn poses a serious threat to the New Republic.
