Disney Confirms 7 MCU Movies & Disney+ Shows Releasing In 2026

Disney has announced the six Marvel movies and TV shows coming out in 2026. Marvel is known for releasing a lot of content each year. While they used to focus solely on films, the success of shows like WandaVision on Disney+ has made television a major part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

With 2026 fast approaching, Marvel Studios has announced its plans for the year. Disney recently shared a preview of upcoming releases, revealing seven Marvel movies and Disney+ series scheduled for 2026, even though no more projects are planned for release before the end of 2025.

Marvel is planning to release eight movies and shows in 2026, though Disney’s official announcement only listed seven of them.

The upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie is still scheduled for release in July 2026 and will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Sony Pictures will handle distribution, with Columbia Pictures co-producing alongside Marvel Studios. Because Disney isn’t distributing the film, it wasn’t on the previously released list.

All 7 Marvel Studios Projects Releasing in 2026

Wonder Man

Marvel Studios’ next big release will be Wonder Man, debuting on Disney+ on January 27, 2026. The series will playfully poke fun at the world of superhero movies while introducing audiences to a character named Simon Williams within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Simon, an actor, is playing Wonder Man in a new Marvel show. But in a surprising twist, he’ll actually become the character, gaining Wonder Man’s powers! Marvel Studios is doing a lot of promotion for the series, and we can expect to see much more about it over the next year and a half leading up to its release in early 2026.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2

The Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again was a big hit with fans, who felt it successfully connected the old Netflix Marvel shows to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. What’s surprising is how quickly Season 1 will be followed up with a return in March 2026 – just a year after its initial release. This is a remarkably fast turnaround for a major television show, especially considering other Disney+ series like Ahsoka typically take two to three years between seasons.

The new season of Daredevil: Born Again picks up right after the events of Season 1. While the show already has a compelling story, it will also feature the return of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones. This marks Ritter’s first appearance as the character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, bringing fans closer to seeing all of the former Netflix Defenders team up in the larger interconnected Marvel world.

Avengers: Doomsday

Calling Avengers: Doomsday a major event doesn’t quite capture the excitement. Fans have been anticipating Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Doctor Doom for a while, but the recent trailer revealed an even bigger surprise: Chris Evans will be back as Steve Rogers, marking his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Avengers: Endgame in 2019.

With Marvel Studios reuniting some of its biggest stars, Doomsday will also mark the first time Ian McKellen, Rebecca Romijn, and Alan Cumming reprise their roles as Magneto, Mystique, and Nightcrawler in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel is going all-out for this film, and audiences can look forward to seeing it in theaters on December 18, 2026.

Punisher Special Presentation

Disney+ is experimenting with something new from Marvel Studios called “Special Presentations.” These aren’t quite full TV series or movies, but they still add to the overall Marvel story. In 2026, Jon Bernthal will return as Frank Castle, the Punisher, in one of these special presentations.

The character first appeared in Season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again, but won’t be in Season 2 due to his role in an upcoming special project. Fortunately for fans, he will also appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, scheduled for release in 2026. Jon Bernthal has mentioned the special project will be released around the same time as Brand New Day, though it’s currently unknown whether it will come before or after the Spider-Man movie.

Details about the upcoming Punisher series are still limited, but it’s been confirmed that Ma Gnucci will be the primary antagonist.

VisionQuest

With a lot of big Marvel movies and shows planned for 2026, the upcoming project VisionQuest hasn’t been getting much attention. It’s set to bring back both Paul Bettany as Vision and James Spader as Ultron.

The new Disney+ series, VisionQuest, will wrap up the story that started with WandaVision in 2021. While a firm release date hasn’t been announced, it’s expected to premiere sometime in 2026.

X-Men ’97 Season 2

The popular animated series X-Men ’97 is returning for a second season. The first season ended with a huge cliffhanger: the X-Men team was scattered across time, with some members thrown far into the past and others landing in the future.

Season 2 is set to expand the universe with at least ten new Marvel characters, making the show even more expansive. Currently, a release date hasn’t been announced.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2

In 2025, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man quickly became a standout show. The first season presented a fresh take on Peter Parker and introduced a new version of Harry Osborn. It also delved into the history of the villain Tombstone, who is expected to return in season two.

The trailer for Season 2 revealed that familiar villains like Doc Ock, Scorpion, and Norman Osborn will be making appearances. While the show is sure to have a few unexpected moments, a release date hasn’t been announced yet.
