Disney+ has announced a slight delay for its upcoming Star Wars series. While fans await the next Star Wars film in 2026, featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu, there’s still plenty of content coming to Disney+. The next installment, Star Wars Visions: Volume 3, will arrive this October. This new series will explore stories outside of the established Star Wars timeline, offering fresh narratives and continuing storylines from the previous two seasons.
A new Star Wars show was originally planned to launch on Disney+ this fall, but those plans changed. An announcement at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Tokyo revealed that Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures will now premiere in Fall 2025, pushing back the initial release timeframe.
DTVA News reported on X that the Disney+ show Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures has been pushed back to 2026, making it the only Star Wars series currently without a specific release date.
The reason for the delay of Young Jedi Adventures isn’t clear, but it could be due to changes made while the show was being animated. Another possibility is that Disney wanted to avoid having two Star Wars shows—this one and Season 3 of Star Wars: Visions (premiering October 29, 2025)—air around the same time.
Star Wars: Young Adventures is a brand-new, fully animated Star Wars series made for younger viewers. Set during the High Republic period, the show tells the stories of young Jedi Knights as they learn and grow. It features voice acting from a skilled cast, including Dee Bradley Baker, Jonathan Lipow, Piotr Michael, Jamaal Avery Jr., Emma Berman, and Juliet Donenfeld. You can currently watch the first two seasons on Disney+.
What Are Disney+’s Other 2026 Star Wars Releases? Full List
The Mandalorian & Grogu
The movie The Mandalorian and Grogu marks the beginning of a new cinematic journey for the beloved duo. They’re tasked by the New Republic with eliminating remaining Imperial leaders. The film is scheduled to premiere on May 22, 2026.
The return of Star Wars to movie theaters in 2026 is a big deal, offering a chance to recapture the magic of seeing it on the big screen. It’s especially fitting that The Mandalorian and Grogu are leading the way, as they were key to breathing new life into the franchise with their Disney+ series.
Ahsoka Season 2
Filming for Ahsoka Season 2 finished in the UK in October 2025, and it’s likely to be the next live-action Star Wars series released on Disney+ in 2026.
Although some expect Ahsoka Season 2 to arrive in late summer or fall of 2026, the show still needs significant post-production work. Because it relies heavily on visual effects, the premiere on Disney+ might be delayed.
Production on the first season of Ahsoka began in May 2022 and finished six months later, in October 2022. The season then launched on the streaming service on August 22, 2023 – ten months after filming wrapped. If the second season follows a similar schedule, we might see the new episodes premiere around August 2026, which would be during the summer months in the US.
Maul: Shadow Lord
At Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Japan, it was announced that a new series, Maul: Shadow Lord, is in development. Picking up after Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the show will explore what happens to Maul as the Empire takes power. Actor Sam Witwer, who voices Maul, has described the story as a conflict between villains and even more dangerous adversaries.
The new animated series is set to debut on Disney+ in 2026, though the exact date hasn’t been announced. It’s currently expected to arrive sometime in the summer, and could even be released before the second season of Ahsoka. However, the premiere might be delayed until after Ahsoka Season 2 wraps up, especially if that season airs in August as some predict. A fall 2026 release is also a possibility, which would give the series its own dedicated time to shine on Disney+.
Star Wars Visions Presents
Star Wars: Visions Presents expands on the original Star Wars Visions series by continuing storylines from previous episodes. The first of these continued tales is The Ninth Jedi, which originally appeared in Season 1.
The new spin-off is scheduled for 2026, but we don’t have a specific release date yet. Predicting the premiere is tricky because past seasons of Visions have come out at different times of the year – Season 1 in September 2021, Season 2 in May 2023, and Season 3 in October 2025.
Even so, it’s likely to be released in the latter half of 2026, possibly in late October or November, mirroring the release timing of Season 3 of Visions.
Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures
Since Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures is currently scheduled to launch in Fall 2025, the third season will probably arrive on Disney+ in early 2026—perhaps around March or April—and promises a fun, exciting story featuring cute and talented young Jedi.
As a critic, I’ve been following Young Jedi Adventures, and while each episode works perfectly well on its own – really focusing on good life lessons for little ones – I think Disney+ is smart to consider giving it a dedicated launch window in 2026. Honestly, a March premiere feels ideal. Why? Because it hits right at the start of spring break, giving those young Jedi fans a chance to really settle in and binge-watch without school getting in the way.
