If you’re searching for ways to pass the time before the 2023 Season 2 premiere, Netflix offers an engaging Western series that could have slipped past your notice initially.
It might seem surprising, but beyond the world of Yellowstone, there are some exceptional Western TV series out there. As a matter of fact, Netflix has demonstrated its stake in this genre as well.
Beginning in January, the streaming platform decided to remove “American Primeval,” a raw and gory series delving into the perils of the frontier. To bring variety in April, they will introduce “Ransom Canyon,” a romantic drama reminiscent of Hallmark productions.
However, prior to these developments, Netflix had already embarked on the Western genre with an exceptional series that remains a must-watch before the Duttons make their comeback.

In 2017, the Netflix miniseries titled “Godless” made its debut, narrating the tale of a female-governed town in New Mexico, where all the men perished in a devastating mining disaster.

As a dedicated gamer, I’m excited to share that this series features Jack O’Connell, Michelle Dockery, Scoot McNairy, and Jeff Daniels. Plus, with just six episodes, it’s an ideal gaming session where you can devour the entire drama in one marathon day!
Currently, “Godless” has a rating of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes, and since you’ve been following our top picks for Western television series, you’re aware that we placed it at the first spot on our list.
This film, Godless, isn’t just a hard-hitting, emotional drama filled with intense gunfights, but it also boasts some of the most unforgettable characters in the genre over the past ten years. In fact, who would have thought Jeff Daniels could portray such a detestable, gruesome villain?
As a devoted fan, I must confess that Godless isn’t your typical Sheridan production, but it undeniably delivers the essence of a small-town saga, ranch adventures, and a plethora of gunfights. In many ways, it echoes the spirit of 1923. What truly sets it apart is its strong female characters, who are as complex and tenacious as they come.
Currently, you can find every episode of Godless streaming online at Netflix. On the other hand, the second season of 1923 will make its debut on Paramount+ starting February 23rd.
