A new trailer for Steven Spielberg‘s highly anticipated movie, Disclosure Day, has just been released. The film has been largely under wraps until now, but the first trailer appeared with Avatar: Fire and Ash, building excitement for another science fiction project from the acclaimed director. While the initial trailer offered little insight into the plot, this latest one reveals more about the story, which centers on Josh O’Connor’s character as he tries to prove that alien life exists.
The latest trailer for Disclosure Day is much faster-paced and action-packed compared to the previous one, offering a deeper look into the film’s characters and storyline. The trailer primarily features Josh O’Connor, Eve Hewson, Emily Blunt, and Colin Firth, with Firth’s character standing out as fiercely determined to conceal the existence of alien life. We also see Firth utilizing what appears to be sophisticated technology, enabling him to communicate with others remotely and even project a physical presence in locations where he isn’t actually present.
I’m really intrigued by those strange ticking sounds Blunt’s character keeps making in the trailer. They’ve released more footage now, and it seems O’Connor’s character actually understands what she’s trying to communicate! Apparently, those noises aren’t just random – they’re a language, and Firth’s character is desperately trying to stop it from spreading. It’s classic Spielberg, honestly. He’s always been amazing at blending these big, mind-bending sci-fi concepts with really personal, emotional stories – just like he did in films like Close Encounters of the Third Kind and A.I.: Artificial Intelligence.
I’m really excited to see Spielberg go back to the kind of movies that first made him famous. While he did Ready Player One recently, that was still based on a book. This new film, Disclosure Day, feels much more like his older work, especially Close Encounters. That movie, which he also wrote, used aliens to tell a really personal story. Disclosure Day isn’t written by Spielberg himself, but it is based on an idea he came up with, and the screenplay is by David Koepp, who’s worked with him before.
As a longtime observer of Steven Spielberg’s work, I’ve always been impressed by his collaborations, and David Koepp is clearly a key part of that. Koepp’s penned scripts for some of Spielberg’s biggest hits – think Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, and the recent Indiana Jones films. So, when I saw the trailer for Disclosure Day, it immediately struck me as a natural progression after The Fabelmans. That film was so deeply personal for Spielberg, and this new one seems to be him confidently returning to bigger, more spectacular storytelling, but – and this is crucial – without sacrificing the emotional core that makes his movies so special. The trailer’s final shot of that descending UFO suggests we’re in for a thrilling ride that still feels distinctly Spielbergian.
