Directv offers a compact selection of sports channels, aimed at those who prefer live sports viewing without the need for a comprehensive television plan.

Beginning on Tuesday, Directv’s new sports package, MySports, offers access to 40 channels featuring various sports broadcasts and is currently available in 24 major cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, and the San Francisco Bay Area. The regular price for this package is set at $69.99 per month, but if you sign up online before February 28, 2025, you can enjoy MySports for only $49.99 per month for the first three months. Additionally, Directv is providing a complimentary five-day trial of DirecTV MySports to potential customers.

MySports is significantly cheaper than DirectTV’s basic Entertainment and Sports Streaming Package, which usually costs $101.98 per month. This new service will debut shortly after the announcement by Disney, Fox Corporation, and Warner Bros. Discovery to discontinue Venu Sports, their joint venture that aimed to provide a sports-focused streaming bundle for $42.99 monthly.

Directv has negotiated broadcasting permissions for MySports channels from companies like Disney, Fox Corporation, Warner Bros. Discovery, and NBCUniversal. This bundle also encompasses networks representing all major U.S. sports leagues – NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB – as well as significant collegiate conferences. At the moment, CBS under Paramount Global is not part of the package, but Directv is in discussions to incorporate them.

Directv announced that the launch of MySports will be followed by more genre options in 2025, including packages centered on children’s and family programming and entertainment networks. Back in September when they signed a new deal with Disney, they mentioned plans to introduce genre-focused tiers.

DirectTV’s new offering, MySports, gives customers more freedom, adaptability, and control over their viewing choices at an affordable price,” said DirectTV CEO Bill Morrow. “This is just the beginning; we have plans to introduce more genre-specific options in the upcoming months, aiming for a more personalized and vibrant TV experience for our consumers.

At the initial launch of DirecTV’s sports package, known as MySports, you’ll have access to several national sports channels such as ACC Network, Big Ten Network, DirecTV’s 4K Live channels (1 and 2), ESPN family channels (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNews, ESPNU), Fox Sports channels (1 and 2), Golf Channel, MLB Network, NBA TV, NFL Network, NHL Network, SEC Network, TBS, TNT, TruTV, and USA Network. Local broadcast stations owned by ABC, Fox, and NBC will also be provided initially. DirecTV has stated that additional networks, local stations, and ESPN+ will join MySports at no extra cost in the coming days.

DirecTV has more details about MySports at this link, including initial launch markets.

Starting this week, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be able to access local ABC, Fox, and NBC stations in major metropolitan areas such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, the San Francisco Bay Area (which includes Oakland, San Francisco, and San Jose), just to name a few. In addition, viewers in cities like Houston, Dallas, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Austin, Detroit, Gainesville, Florida, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Orlando, Phoenix, Seattle, Tampa, Miami, Boston, New Haven, Connecticut, and San Diego will be receiving at least some of their local ABC, NBC, or Fox stations (provided the network owns the local station outlet). Lastly, those in other markets can look forward to their local stations as affiliates opt in. It’s an exciting time for us film enthusiasts!

Users have the ability to stream MySports on their mobile DirecTV application, as well as various other platforms such as Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV. This service will offer real-time notifications during games, and users can take advantage of an unlimited cloud-based DVR for storage.

Moreover, similar to other DirecTV packages, MySports subscribers will gain access to the free, ad-supported sports channels offered by DirectTV, such as ACC Digital Network, Big 12, Fight Network, Fuel TV, Origin Sports, Pickleball TV, Players TV, Sports Grid, Stadium Stream, Surfer TV, Swerve Combat, T2, The Jim Rome Show, TNA, Torque by History, Waypoint TV, and Women’s Sports Network.
