After his September 2024 arrest, Sean “Diddy” Combs was held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, alongside other well-known inmates like Luigi Mangione. Following a roughly four-year prison sentence in October, Combs asked to be moved to the FCI Fort Dix facility in New Jersey. That request has now been approved, and the 55-year-old rapper has transferred there – and more information about the facility is becoming available.
While in prison, Diddy will be able to buy items from the commissary, like food and personal care products, but he’ll have to pay for them. Court documents obtained by Us Weekly show he can purchase meals like penne pasta for $3.15, eggplant parmesan for $6.15, turkey shawarma for $8.25, and stuffed chicken for $10.85. He can also buy snacks such as Pay Day and Snickers bars (around $1.45 – $1.50 each), as well as a variety of other items at different prices.
Combs can also buy basic walking shoes for around $52. The prison store also sells electronics, including a Score 7T tablet with games and music (but no internet) for $131. This type of device is common in prisons – Combs previously had a laptop without wifi at the MDC. He can also purchase headphones for $36.
FCI Fort Dix isn’t just a prison; it’s also home to a well-known drug treatment program called RDAP. This program, lasting between nine and twelve months, helps inmates overcome substance abuse issues. A significant benefit is that participants may be eligible for up to a year off their sentence. Before entering prison, reports indicated that Diddy was interested in joining RDAP, given his own personal challenges with substance use.
More on Diddy

Let me tell you, the situation surrounding Diddy is escalating quickly. A source close to him claims things have gotten incredibly dangerous – they’re saying someone actually threatened him with a knife! Apparently, this happened while he was sleeping. His lawyer addressed the incident in court today, confirming there was a threat made against him, but details are still pretty scarce. It’s a really unsettling development, and honestly, paints a picture of a very fearful environment around him right now.
Sean Combs’ trial concluded in July with a split decision. Although the jury found him not guilty of sex trafficking and racketeering, he was convicted on two charges related to transporting people for the purpose of prostitution. During the sentencing, Combs apologized to anyone he had harmed throughout his career. Following this, he and his lawyers began working to get him transferred to a different prison to serve his sentence.
While some believe Fort Dix prison is safer than the MDC, where Diddy struggled to adjust, that might not be true. Joe Giudice, a businessman and former reality TV star, warned Diddy about violence and gang activity he witnessed while incarcerated at Fort Dix. Similarly, former record executive Suge Knight advised Diddy to protect himself and avoid trouble while in prison.
After completing his prison sentence, Sean Combs will face certain restrictions for the next five years. These include a ban on possessing firearms or other weapons and the possibility of searches. First, however, he needs to complete his sentence, including the time he’s already served at the MDC. It’s still unclear how he will adjust to his new situation and what purchases he’ll need to make.
