Dexter: Resurrection’s Showrunner Confirmed One Villain Will Finally Appear In Season 2, And I Have One Big Question

The first season of Dexter: Resurrection ended with a shocking finale, leaving viewers eager to see where the story goes next. Now, Dexter Morgan has access to a wealth of information about other serial killers thanks to Leon Prater’s files, and he’s free to travel and pursue his own form of justice. Although the specifics are still under wraps, the show’s creator, Clyde Phillips, has teased that a familiar character will be making an appearance.

The creator of the show appeared on the podcast Dark Passengers: A Dexter Podcast. He didn’t reveal much about the plans for Season 2, but he did say a popular character from the first season will be returning.

The New York Ripper Will Appear In Season 2

My guesses about who the New York Ripper really was turned out to be wrong, but the season did reveal his name: Don Framt. Dexter purposely left the file containing this information where Detective Wallace would find it, giving her a crucial clue in the case she’s been working on for so long.

It’s unclear why Dexter gave Wallace the file – was it a genuine gesture of kindness, or a tactic to distract her? Even if it works, Wallace seems troubled by Angel Batista’s death and is likely to remain suspicious of Dexter’s involvement in the Bay Harbor Butcher killings. However, considering her decades-long pursuit of the New York Ripper, perhaps this move will ultimately prove effective.

What Actor Will Be Tapped To Play The Mythical Serial Killer?

Fans are eager to find out who will play Don Framt in the upcoming 2026 revival of Dexter, titled Dexter: Resurrection. The original series featured a fantastic lineup of memorable villains, so viewers will likely expect Paramount+ to cast a well-known actor in this key role.

More On Dexter: Resurrection

I Like Dexter: Resurrection, But Am I The Only One Who Thinks It Has The Wrong Main Character?

We heard the New York Ripper’s voice on a voicemail message to one of the victim’s families, and it sounded like it belonged to a man around middle age. If the actor who recorded that line hasn’t already been cast as the Ripper, it means there’s still a chance to bring someone new into the show. While it would be exciting to see a famous actor take on the role, I’d also love to see Dexter: Resurrection consider a different approach to casting.

I was really surprised by Eric Stonestreet’s role as a serial killer, because I’m so used to seeing him in the comedy Modern Family. The same thing happened with John Lithgow – I only knew him from 3rd Rock From The Sun before he played the terrifying Trinity Killer on Dexter. I’m curious to see how many more comedic actors this show can cast in dark roles before it feels repetitive, but I’m definitely interested in watching them try!
