Dexter: Resurrection Season 2’s Massive Villain Introduction Finally Confirmed

As a huge Dexter fan, I’m so excited to hear that season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection is going to finally reveal a major villain we haven’t seen yet! Season 1 had some really memorable bad guys – Lady Vengeance, the Tattoo Collector, even characters like Rapunzel and Leon Prater – but the show kept hinting at an even bigger threat, the New York Ripper. It’s great to know we’ll finally get to see what he’s all about.

The first season of Dexter: Resurrection ended by revealing Don Framt as the New York Ripper, and Dexter taking his files suggested he’d become a major target. It wasn’t clear if the show would slowly build up the Ripper as a long-term threat or introduce him sooner. Now, we know when the Ripper will officially appear in the series.

On the November 18th episode of the Dark Passengers: A Dexter Podcast, Clyde Phillips announced that the New York Ripper character will appear in the second season of Dexter: Resurrection. Although he didn’t share many details, Phillips confirmed Don Framt will be part of the new season, stating, “He’ll be in the second season.”

As a huge “Dexter” fan, I was really excited to hear they’ve finally confirmed the introduction of the Ripper in the new season! It’s one of the first big story reveals, and honestly, the showrunner and writers have been keeping everything under wraps since they renewed the show way back in early October. In that same interview, they were also super mysterious about whether we might see Uma Thurman’s character, Charley Brown, again. Remember, Dexter let her go with her mom at the end of the last season, so it’s definitely possible she could pop up in season 2!

Even with unresolved storylines involving characters like Rapunzel and other criminals, the show Resurrection has been carefully building anticipation for the introduction of the New York Ripper. This new villain is being presented with a similar level of suspense and dread as the infamous Trinity Killer. Throughout the first season, the Ripper’s presence has been felt, with characters like Prater repeatedly showing interest in this cold case, and Detective Wallace hinting at a disturbing history connected to her previous attempts to catch him.

Now that the New York Ripper is coming soon, Don Framt will probably be a recurring threat, leading to a season-long chase with Dexter. The other criminals from Arthur Mitchell’s files—the ones Dexter took with him at the end of season one—will likely be featured as individual killers each week. However, Framt seems more likely to be the big villain Dexter will ultimately confront at the end of the season.

The upcoming second season of Dexter: Resurrection also raises the question of who will play the main villain. Season one featured a fantastic lineup of actors – Peter Dinklage, Krysten Ritter, Eric Stonestreet, Neil Patrick Harris, and David Dastmalchian – so expectations are high for this new villain, known as the Ripper. Fans online have suggested names like Bryan Cranston, Matthew Lillard, and Nicolas Cage, highlighting the desire for a well-known and popular actor in the role.

We don’t have a confirmed start date for filming the second season of Dexter: Resurrection yet, but we expect to hear about casting choices around the time production begins.
