Paramount has confirmed a second season of the ‘Dexter’ revival, but fans are primarily focused on one issue with the announcement.
Dexter, the popular crime drama about a killer with a moral code, is returning to New York City for a new season after the success of the recent revival and its group of fellow murderers.
Michael C. Hall shared the exciting news in a video message: writers are starting to plan for the show’s second season, though details about the new season are still under wraps.

The recent success of Dexter: Resurrection, with a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, led Paramount to order another season. However, many fans remain upset about the cancellation of Dexter: Original Sin, the show’s planned prequel.
People on X responded to Hall’s video by expressing their disinterest and demanding the return of “Dexter: Original Sin.” One user wrote, “Honestly we don’t care. Bring back Dexter Original Sin,” while another simply said, “Who cares, bring back Original Sin.”
Someone else noted that Paramount first approved the prequel but then canceled it in August, expressing frustration that the project was initially given the go-ahead only to be scrapped.
Fans started a petition to bring the show back, and it had already gathered over 100,000 signatures. However, the recent merger between Skydance and Paramount currently makes a renewal unlikely.
The series featured Patrick Gibson as a young Dexter Morgan, showing his early days as a blood spatter analyst with the Miami Metro Police Department. “Dexter: Original Sin” also included a strong cast with familiar faces like Christian Slater, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Patrick Dempsey.
While the earlier series received a 70% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, viewers expressed strong interest in the show’s continuation after the announcement of Dexter: Resurrection Season 2.
