A video game developer is fulfilling an old promise to fans, releasing a game that was originally offered as a free giveaway seven years ago.
People in Japan who won a contest in 2018 for a free copy of the new Inazuma Eleven anime game are now able to get their prize when the game comes out this month, thanks to recent confirmation letters.
This contest first started when the game was called Inazuma Eleven Ares and was planned for a 2018 release. After seven years and several delays, it’s back as Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road, launching on November 13th.
Dev makes good on a seven-year-old giveaway
As Automaton first reported, players who signed up for the giveaway received an apology on October 30th, along with instructions on how to get their digital copy when the game is released.
The letter admitted there had been a considerable delay and restated Level-5’s promise to fulfill the original campaign, even after so much time had passed.
One of the winners posted online that they were surprised the prize was still valid after so much time had passed. Another winner mentioned their child had grown from an elementary school student to a high schooler while waiting to receive details on how to claim their prize.
Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road brings back the popular football RPG series fans have been waiting for. But what’s really getting people excited is Level-5 following through on a promise, earning them a lot of praise online for being a company that keeps its word.
Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road will be available starting November 13th on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC (through Steam), and Xbox Series X/S.
