Destiny 2 Spills Unreleased Goodies

Players of Destiny 2 claim they’ve accidentally obtained “weapons yet to be released” during the Heresy Act 1, which appears to be due to an issue involving a newly introduced seasonal item.

In Episode: Heresy Act 1, several fresh weapon options were introduced for the Destiny sequel. Following the activation of the Sundered Doctrine Dungeon, an additional four weapons joined the lineup.

As a dedicated player, I couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement when the game introduced the return of my favorite weapon, the Void Hand Cannon, and a brand-new Sniper Rifle in the revamped Trials of Osiris activity. It’s moments like these that make me eager to jump back into the game!

Yet, it’s not just these newly introduced firearms in Destiny 2’s latest episode that players are unlocking. Some users have also gained access to weapons that aren’t supposed to be playable within the game at this point.

Destiny 2 is accidentally giving out “unreleased weapons”

A gamer posted a picture on Reddit showing an unseen weapon they unexpectedly got through their Destiny Item Manager. This mysterious weapon turns out to be a freshly minted Fusion Rifle named Afterglow.

The user mentioned that the last item in their DIM vault appeared as “???”. When asked about the gun’s performance, they said it functions normally.

The user revealed that an unidentified item was placed in the final spot of their DIM storage and when questioned about its operation, they confirmed that it operates as expected.

Besides the original poster, it seems that several others have experienced this unusual occurrence too. Some commenters mentioned receiving the previously mentioned Fusion Rifle and an unlaunched Void Bow as well.

One individual stated that the problem stems from an issue related to the new Tome of Want seasonal item, where it seems to be distributing weapons prematurely if only the initial box is slotted. In other words, they found that the Tome of Want is accidentally handing out guns that are not yet supposed to be acquired when only the first box is used. Oops!

Significantly, BungieLeaks on Twitter drew attention to an inconsistency soon after the release of Heresy Act 1. Items such as the Afterlight should not have been accessible until Heresy Act 2 or beyond.
