In Destiny 2, one storyline often flows seamlessly into the next. The culmination of Act 3 for Revenant has paved the way for the Past is Prologue event, which begins on January 21st. As we peer further down the line, Episode Hersey is scheduled to debut next month, introducing a fresh dungeon called Sundered Doctrine.
In the upcoming dungeon, gamers will revisit Savathûn’s Throne World, sneaking into Rhulk’s Pyramid Ship – a former adversary vanquished by Guardians during The Vow of the Disciple. Although Rhulk is no more, players can expect some treacherous surprises within his vessel. Top-tier players are cordially invited to engage in a tough, competitive race to conquer Sundered Doctrine’s Contest Mode, featuring increased difficulty and an even steeper challenge compared to the usual settings.
Before diving into the thrilling world of Sundered Doctrine, here’s a breakdown of all you should know about the race – from how to join in, where to spectate, and the steps required to secure the grand prize for this epic event. As we gear up for the launch, let’s make sure we’re all battle-ready!

When does Sundered Doctrine launch?
Starting this coming Friday, the 7th of February, Sundered Doctrine will make its debut! During the initial 48 hours, gamers will engage in a fierce competition where the goal is to become the first team to complete Sundered Doctrine using the challenging Contest Mode. This time around, only one victorious fireteam will emerge, and the contest will end as soon as that team manages to succeed.
What are the requirements to enter Sundered Doctrine’s Contest Mode?
In the initial 48 hours following the release of Sundered Doctrine, a group of three players may access Contest Mode only if each player’s Power Level is at least 1995. Furthermore, for entry into Sundered Doctrine, it’s essential that every team member possesses The Final Shape Dungeon Key and has completed the The Drowning Labyrinth quest.
How can players complete Sundered Doctrine?
It’s accurate to state that defeating Sundered Doctrine will require a collective effort from all involved, as success depends on each fireteam member having successfully completed and claimed rewards for every encounter, and moreover, it must mark their first time finishing each encounter together.
If players manage to defeat the last battle of Sundered Doctrine, they must open the final chest to confirm their win. However, this task isn’t simple due to Contest Mode’s challenging nature, featuring tougher enemies and an enrage mechanism that either restricts the number of stages or the time remaining for completion. Regardless of a player’s power level exceeding 1995, everyone will be capped at this level during the contest. Furthermore, resurrection tokens will be available during battles to help players continue their fight.
What will players win for finishing Sundered Doctrine’s Contest Mode?
In the triumph of their fireteam, the top three members will be rewarded with a unique insignia and an assured exotic weapon as a bonus. Yet, the specific exotic weapon that is part of Sundered Doctrine remains undisclosed by Bungie.
How to watch the Sundered Doctrine race
On Friday, February 2nd at 7 AM Pacific Time or 10 AM Eastern Time, DungeonZone’s special coverage on the Sundered Doctrine race will kick off with a pre-show. The live broadcast will commence two hours later at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET. Keep up with all the excitement through these channels:
- Twitch
- YouTube
- TikTok
Keep in mind that the TikTok stream will continue only if the platform doesn’t get shut down as planned on Sunday, January 19. It’s worth mentioning that a US law was passed in 2024 with an intention to ban TikTok, but if ByteDance doesn’t sell the site before then, it seems unlikely for the ban to take effect before the deadline.
People tuning in to the live broadcast can get their hands on the Trigonic Amber emblem at no cost. The broadcast not only promises real-time coverage of the race, but also includes developer interviews and an exclusive sneak peek into the creation of the latest dungeon.
Once the competition concludes, all players will have access to Sundered Doctrine at its standard level of challenge.
