Destiny 2: Ash & Iron patch notes expand endgame and buff Portal rewards

The initial significant update for Destiny 2, following the debated Edge of Fate, is now active on all platforms, introducing a variety of fresh content within its game world.

Following Bungie’s change in the seasonal format post-Episode Heresy, Ash & Iron serves as a significant update within the looter shooter’s mid-expansion. It’s uncertain exactly what this update will bring aside from what’s already been revealed.

In the game “Ash & Iron,” the region known as the Plaguelands, which made an appearance in Destiny 1, serves as the central hub where players, or Guardians, come back to Earth to engage in a fresh cooperative activity together.

In summary, a fresh Exotic Mission called “Warsat Heist” is now available for the endgame experience. Additionally, we’ve introduced “Dungeon Lairs,” which are compact versions of existing dungeons that function as individual activities. You can access these new standalone activities through the Pinnacle Ops tab within the Portal.

Discussing further, Ash & Iron brings about several modifications to Destiny 2’s mixed bag of activities known as the playlist. For a comprehensive look at the new features and alterations, kindly refer to the detailed patch notes provided below.

New Activity: Reclaim

It’s time for us to return, Guardians. In our newest three-player activity, Reclaim, which is making its debut through the Portal today, you will engage in combat once more within The Plaguelands – a location you last visited during the events that unfolded in the Rise of Iron Destiny 1 Expansion.

Reclaim offers players the opportunity to take control in four distinct regions of The Plaguelands to accomplish story-based missions against the clock for valuable prizes. Select your modifiers, construct your strongest skill set, and discover additional details about The Conductor’s objectives. What secrets does she seek hidden within this forsaken land?

Portal Updates

The center for actions initiated on the boundary of destiny, known as The Portal, is receiving some enhancements with Ash & Iron. These updates include new equipment, modifications, but what’s most significant are the activities themselves.

Dungeons Lairs, where you engage in a specific challenge within a Destiny 2 dungeon, can now be found in Pinnacle Ops, along with two additional Exotic Missions – Presage and AVALON.

Apart from what we’ve already discussed about Recliam, Fireteam Ops now offers additional activities. These new additions encompass two Battlegrounds, three Strikes, three Offensives, and three routes through the Tomb of Elders which will be available starting next week.

We’ve taken note of your comments regarding the Portal, and are actively developing additional updates to elevate the overall experience. Expect enhancements such as improved rewards and a more uniform Power reward system for higher levels. Further details will be shared in our August 28th and September 4 Twitter updates.

New Activity: Epic Raid

Transformation: The Edge of Fate introduced a fresh, exhilarating raid encounter with levels of difficulty tailored to your preferences. It’s now time to elevate it to the extraordinary! Expanding upon the initial experience, the grand version of The Everlasting Desert unveils additional trials, rewards, and quests.

After the initial 48 hours following the launch, Contest Mode difficulty will be active, and the Desert Perpetual Epic Raid World First Race commences on September 27. Are you ready to be one of the first to conquer it?

Beyond enhancing existing weaponry and introducing bonus sets for new armor, we’ve also implemented numerous upgrades to the loot you acquire from the recent raid. Our aim is to enhance its overall reward value and contribute to your Power advancement. For details on these modifications, check out our Twitch posts dated August 21st and September 4th.

New Rewards Pass

Together with Ash and Iron, we are introducing a fresh Rewards Program featuring 110 levels to progress through, brimming with enticing rewards for gamers to uncover. This exciting new offering also includes an innovative Exotic Micro-Missile Pulse Rifle, which is a Strand weapon. It fires adhesive bombs that can be detonated shortly after for substantial damage.

We’re launching a new Rewards Program with 110 levels and lots of rewards for players to unlock. This includes an Exotic Micro-Missile Pulse Rifle (a Strand weapon) that shoots sticky bombs which can be detonated for massive damage.

The revised Reward Bundle presents fresh weaponry and armor, decorative items, an abundance of currencies, and a novel one – Chronologs. This fresh currency plays a pivotal role in our latest innovation called the Monument to Ancient Times. From now on, gamers can procure Historic Passes from preceding Seasons, with Ash & Iron serving as the starting point. These passes will allow you to redeem rewards using your Chronologs. This extends to the Rewards Bundle of Edge of Fate, so even if you haven’t completed all your tasks yet, you’ll have the opportunity to claim many top-tier rewards at a later stage! Check out our TwitLonger on August 21st for more details.

Power Level Increase

With the release of Ash & Iron, as previously announced when The Edge of Fate was launched, Guardians now have the chance to gain an additional 100 Power levels. The new maximum level cap has been set at Power Level 500, but dedicated players can reach a higher level of 550 by collecting Prime Engrams during Portal activities and The Desert Perpetual Raid. Reaching Power Level 500 will grant access to Tier 5 rewards from various sources, so if you’re aiming for the best gear available, now is your chance.

Featured Gear Updates

In our latest update with Ash & Iron, we’ve made some changes to how our Featured Gear operates. Beginning with Renegades, all Exotic Weapons and Armor will now fall under the umbrella of Featured Gear, ensuring they receive the New Gear Benefits consistently. Moreover, we’ve expanded the duration for Legendary gear from Seasons: Reclamation (The Edge of Fate and Ash & Iron) to be included as part of Season: Lawless’ Featured Gear as well.

New Rewards: Weapons and Armor

In simpler terms, Ash & Iron is revamping the rewards system in Portal activities, offering fresh incentives such as new armor sets and weapons for both competitive Crucible matches and solo or team play (Fireteam). Additionally, there are exciting enhancements to Pinnacle Ops, which might include complementary updates to some classic favorites.

New Exotic Mission: Warsat Heist

We won’t reveal the details of Warsat Heist just yet, but mark your calendars for October 7th when this exciting event unfolds! You’ll be plunged deep into The Plaguelands to decipher The Conductor’s plans, and as a reward for your efforts, you’ll get your hands on an entirely new, utterly amazing Exotic Weapon. As the Season: Reclamation nears its close, there’s another exciting occasion on the horizon – it’s called Call to Arms. This event functions as a farewell storyline event before we launch Renegades. During Call to Arms, you can expect to attune to a variety of event weapons, such as the brand-new Crossbow, and even have a chance to acquire an event-exclusive foil. Additionally, there will be a two-week competition where all Guardians are invited to achieve the highest scores across five different activities.
