In a different era, Doom: The Dark Ages won’t mimic the adventures of Indiana Jones. Instead, it will be safeguarded using advanced Denuvo technology.
The Steam game card verifies that the information is accurate. This confirmation came following the unveiling of the release date for this peculiar addition to the Doom series, which serves as a prequel to the highly-acclaimed Doom Eternal. However, fans were taken aback because the previous title published by Bethesda, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, didn’t include Denuvo in its retail version (it was only used for protecting review copies to prevent leaks).
Despite a noticeable decrease in buzz surrounding this technology over the past year, gamers remain apprehensive about titles using this anti-piracy shield. The unease can stem from two primary sources: either the perceived negative impact of Denuvo on game performance or its effectiveness as a Digital Rights Management (DRM) system. Regardless of the reason, fans are often disappointed when they learn that the highly anticipated game they’ve been looking forward to will be safeguarded using this technology.
The game titled “Doom: The Dark Ages” is scheduled to launch on May 15 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. On the very same day, it will also be accessible through Xbox Game Pass.
