Demo now available for ’80s-inspired pixel-art action RPG Kingdom of Night via Steam

I’m so excited! Dangen Entertainment and Friends of Safety just dropped a free demo for *Kingdom of Night* on Steam, and I’ve already downloaded it. If you’re curious about the game, now’s the perfect time to check it out!

This action RPG, featuring pixel art inspired by the 1980s, was first revealed in December 2020. After a quiet period, a new gameplay trailer was released in November 2024. The game is scheduled to launch on PC in 2025, and information about console versions will be announced later.

You can find a new trailer, description, and screenshots for the demo below, courtesy of Dangen Entertainment.

Developer Friends of Safety (previously known as Black Seven Studios) and publisher Dangen Entertainment are happy to share that a playable demo of Kingdom of Night is now available on Steam, launching at 7:00 AM Pacific Time on September 23, 2025.

The demo lets players experience a complete portion of the game, showcasing its unique blend of a growing-up story, unsettling cosmic horror, and 1980s vibes. It takes about 1.5 hours to finish and allows players to freely explore and immerse themselves in the gritty atmosphere of Miami, Arizona.

Here’s what players can expect in the demo:

  • A complete slice of Kingdom of Night, straight from the full game.
  • Five classes to experiment with: Barbarian, Knight, Rogue, Necromancer, or Sorcerer.
  • A cast of iconic characters who will play key roles later in the story.
  • Freedom to roam the streets of Miami at their own pace, with save slots included (though demo saves will not carry over into the full release).

The demo immediately puts you in the action, exploring the demon-filled streets of Miami, giving you a taste of what makes Kingdom of Night so memorable.

Kingdom of Night will be fully released on PC in the fourth quarter of 2025. We’ll share the specific release date soon. We’ll announce plans for console versions later on.
