Debut Title From Last of Us And Uncharted Co-Director Revealed

A new game called Coven of the Chicken Foot was revealed at The Game Awards. Developed by Wildflower Interactive, it’s a single-player adventure starring an elderly witch named Gertie and a strange creature. Players will see the unlikely duo form a connection as they work together to complete a promise. What makes the game special is the creature’s technology – it learns from how you play and adapts its abilities to help you along the way.

Coven of the Chicken Foot takes place in a unique fantasy world where all the classic adventures have already happened – the dungeons are empty, the monsters are gone, and the heroes have moved on. Players will explore treacherous dungeons and forests as Gertie, a character who relies on adaptability rather than combat to survive. The game will tell its story without any spoken or written words; instead, players will uncover the narrative by carefully observing their surroundings and making choices that impact the journey, according to Wildflower Interactive.

Wildflower Interactive was founded in 2021 by Bruce Straley, a long-time game industry veteran. He began his career in the 1990s with games like X-Men and Gex, then moved to Crystal Dynamics before joining Naughty Dog in 1999. At Naughty Dog, he contributed to many successful titles and later directed major hits like Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, The Last of Us, and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

Neil Straley left Naughty Dog in 2017 and briefly worked as a story consultant on the game Chained: A Victorian Nightmare in 2018. Later, he co-founded Wildflower Interactive, a studio focused on making smaller, creatively ambitious games with a distinctive visual style.

According to a recent announcement, Wildflower Interactive was founded on a passion for creative exploration and collaboration, with the goal of redefining what video games can achieve in terms of player experience, says Straley.

Our game, Coven of the Chicken Foot, is designed to be fun and easy to pick up, like classic games, but also offers a fresh and engaging experience with how its story and gameplay connect. We at Wildflower are incredibly excited about what we’ve created and can’t wait for players to discover our world and meet our charming main characters.

A release date hasn’t been set yet, but Coven of the Chicken Foot is coming to PC via Steam.
