Deadlock recently gained an ability that lets players briefly pause to aim before shooting, but many are already asking for it to be taken out of the game.
Deadlock has a lot of interesting features that set it apart. These include its character customization options, the exclusive invite-only access (even with a growing player base), and the ability to pause during matches.
Many players enjoy these features, but a recently discovered, powerful tactic is causing frustration because it allows players to pause live multiplayer games.
Deadlock players uncover OP meta pause trick
During a Deadlock match, one player asked if it’s a common strategy to pause the game to get a better shot lined up.
The streamer decided to try the technique, using the Hero Vindicta. They jumped, aimed at another player, and immediately pressed the pause button. Even while paused, a little bit of aiming movement is still possible, so they carefully lined up their shot, released pause, and rapidly fired to take down the opponent.
The prank was a success, and the streamer burst into laughter, jokingly declaring, “I’m definitely not doing that again, my apologies!”

Players quickly voiced their annoyance with a recent game tactic, with many asking for a fix. One person suggested simply disabling mouse movement during pauses to prevent players from exploiting the pause button. Others agreed, saying it was a major issue and a similar solution was needed.
Players started proposing penalties for using the exploit, with some suggesting immediate IP bans for anyone caught doing it in ranked matches.
There are a couple of limitations with this new strategy. Players can only pause the game once each match, and the whole team is limited to three pauses total. This means you won’t be able to use it whenever you want to carefully line up a shot.
