Dead Space Co-Creator Is “Making Calls” About Dead Space 4

Glen Schofield, one of the original creators of Dead Space, has several ideas for his next project, including a fourth installment in the Dead Space series. He believes the upcoming sale of Electronic Arts (EA) for $55 billion could create the right conditions to make Dead Space 4 a reality.

He told IGN, “I’m already making calls.”

Gunner Wright, who voiced Isaac Clarke in the original *Dead Space*, didn’t reprise his role in the sequels or the 2023 remake, though he did try the remake and liked it. The game’s developer also shared with IGN that the remake wasn’t financially successful and believes EA might abandon the *Dead Space* series as a result.

He expressed optimism following the sale of EA, hoping a new owner might revive the Dead Space franchise. He believes Dead Space has strong potential as a movie or TV series and could be very successful in those formats.

There’s a growing belief that Electronic Arts (EA) may sell off some of its popular game franchises to address its significant $20 billion debt. While a sale isn’t finalized and likely won’t happen until 2026, it could be a while before we see any changes. Reports also suggest that the studio BioWare may be facing cuts or a sale as well.

So, after I moved on from EA, I spent some time at Activision working on a bunch of Call of Duty games with the team at Sledgehammer Games. Then, in 2019, I decided to start my own studio, Striking Distance, and we released The Callisto Protocol, a space-horror game, back in 2022. Right now, I’m directing things over at Pinstripe Games.

Schofield recently stated that developers shouldn’t be afraid of artificial intelligence, but should welcome it. He also expressed significant concern about the future of the Call of Duty franchise now that Microsoft owns it.
