As a long-time fan of offbeat and humorous storytelling, I am absolutely thrilled about the renewal of “Creature Commandos” for a second season! With James Gunn at the helm, this series has already proven to be a breath of fresh air in the DC Universe. The first season has been a rollercoaster ride filled with heart, humor, and monstrous mayhem – just my cup of tea!

In a thrilling turn of events, the “Creature Commandos” are set to return to action! The second season of the popular animated series, penned and overseen by DC Studios’ co-chief James Gunn, has been greenlit for another run on our favorite streaming platform.

This new show, titled “Peacemaker,” centers around imprisoned mythical creatures who have been drafted into a secret military unit. It serves as the inaugural production in the revamped DC Universe, overseen by Gunn and Peter Safran. After its debut on December 5th, it garnered significant praise; Alison Herman from EbMaster wrote in her review that the series is “just as light-hearted and unconventional as many franchise launches are heavy and burdened by commitments to a broader storyline.” The season finale will air on January 9th.

Amy Gravitt from HBO & Max expressed that it is only James Gunn who could create such an unconventional group of monsters with a heart-wrenching appeal, making audiences eagerly cheer for them. We are thrilled to continue their adventures alongside James, Dean Lorey, Peter Safran, and our wonderful partners at DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation,” said the statement.

In the initial season, Indira Varma plays The Bride, Frank Grillo portrays Rick Flag Sr., David Harbour takes on the role of Frankenstein, Zoe Chao is Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk becomes Doctor Phosphorus, Sean Gunn appears as both GI Robot and Weasel, Maria Bakalova is Princess Ilana, Steve Agee plays Economos, and Viola Davis assumes the character of Amanda Waller.

We’re excited to collaborate with Max again for another season of ‘Creature Commandos’ chaos,” Gunn and Safran said in a statement. “From the impressive first season of ‘Peacemaker’ to the incredible journey of ‘The Penguin’, to the groundbreaking debut of ‘Creature Commandos’, Max has consistently surpassed industry standards, even exceeding our wildest dreams.

The series was jointly created by Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios. Executive producers include J.J. Safran, Dean Lorey, Sam Register, and Rick Morales serves as the supervising producer.

Peter Girardi, an executive at Warner Bros. Animation, expressed gratitude for the creative genius of James and the skills of our exceptional artists. They’ve captivated DC fans with this fresh lineup of heroes. We’re thrilled to embark on this adventure further, alongside our partners at Max. If you’re craving more fantastical creatures, prepare to be satisfied as we deliver even more!
