Warner Bros. is planning a series of connected Batman movies, with the first one expected in 2026. They have several Batman projects underway as part of the DC Universe, including a new Batman film called *The Brave and the Bold*, a *Teen Titans* movie featuring Robin, and a project called *Dynamic Duo*. Beyond these connected films, Warner Bros. is also developing other Batman-related projects that won’t be part of the main DC Universe storyline.
Batman fans have a few more movies to look forward to! Warner Bros. has announced a new series of animated films based on the popular “Batman: Knightfall” story. According to Variety, these films will be produced by Warner Bros. Animation and will tell the complete “Knightfall” story over multiple installments.
The first part of the *Batman: Knightfall* story is scheduled to come out in 2026, though an exact release date hasn’t been revealed. Jeff Wamester will direct, and Jeremy Adams, known for his work on *Young Justice* and *Supernatural*, wrote the script.
Although the exact number of parts isn’t official yet, a recent leak indicates that the upcoming Knightfall storyline will be told in three chapters. These chapters are reportedly titled Knightfall, Knightquest, and Knightsend.
This is the first time the full *Knightfall* story has been properly adapted for film or television. While pieces of the popular comic book storyline appeared in *Batman* movies like Christopher Nolan’s *The Dark Knight Rises*, this is the first complete adaptation.
The first part of the upcoming film, *Batman: Knightfall*, is currently scheduled for release around 2026. The story will center on Bane freeing all of Batman’s enemies from Arkham Asylum. Details about the actors and a specific release date haven’t been announced yet.
What To Know About Batman: Knightfall?
For years, Warner Bros. Animation has adapted some of DC’s biggest and best comic book stories.
It was uncertain if previously planned projects would continue when James Gunn and Peter Safran became the heads of the DC Universe, but the development of a *Batman: Knightfall* adaptation suggests they will be moving forward.
As a huge Batman fan, there’s one story I’ve been dying to see adapted for the screen for ages: *Knightfall*. And it looks like we’re *finally* getting it! It’s been a long wait, but it seems like the powers that be are listening to us fans.
The *Batman: Knightfall* comic book storyline was told over three parts, published between 1993 and 1994. These parts were called *Knightfall*, *Knightquest*, and *Knightsend* – a naming pattern that upcoming animated movies are also expected to follow.
Written by a team of acclaimed DC Comics writers – including Chuck Dixon, Jo Duffy, Alan Grant, Dennis O’Neil, and Doug Moench – *Knightfall* tells the story of Bane, a powerful villain who unleashes Batman’s greatest enemies in a massive attack on the hero.
Bruce Wayne reaches his limit and is forced to retire as Batman, choosing Jean-Paul Valley (also known as Azrael) to take his place.
While Azrael continued to act as Batman, his brutality escalated, damaging the reputation of the Batman persona. Ultimately, Bruce Wayne pursued a supernatural cure to recover and take back the mantle.
