Noah Centineo is circling Legendary’s Gundam live-action adaptation
Noah Centineo is being considered for a role in Legendary’s upcoming live-action Gundam movie. This could mean another collaboration with the studio, as he’s already filming the movie Street Fighter for them.
If negotiations succeed, Centineo is set to co-star alongside Sydney Sweeney in the upcoming science fiction movie directed by Jim Mickle. Legendary Pictures has not confirmed the discussions. (Source: The Hollywood Reporter)
The Gundam movie is inspired by a popular Japanese animated series created by Yoshiyuki Tomino, which first aired in 1979 as Mobile Suit Gundam. The story is set in the future, when humans have colonized space, leading to a conflict between Earth and its space colonies. The fighting is done by pilots controlling massive, robotic machines called mobile suits.
Jim Mickle is writing and directing the movie, and also producing it with Linda Moran through their production company, Nightshade. Legendary and Bandai Namco Filmworks are partnering to develop the project, which is slated to start filming shortly. The movie’s title hasn’t been revealed yet.
According to reports, Sydney Sweeney will star in the movie and was involved in choosing her leading man. The story is a Romeo and Juliet-style romance, focusing on a connection between two people from warring planets. While the studio initially considered Drew Starkey for the male lead, negotiations didn’t work out.
Cinematographer Centineo has worked on popular projects like To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, Black Adam, Warfare, and The Recruit. He recently finished filming Street Fighter, which Paramount will release in October 2026. He’s currently getting ready to shoot a Rambo prequel for Lionsgate and will also be in Iconoclast, the first film directed by Gabriel Basso.
