Days Gone devs let players return to an older PC version. People have their suspicions about where this sudden wave of nostalgia is coming from

Sony and Bend Studio have re-released the original version of Days Gone for PC, much to the delight of PC gamers.

Just to refresh your memory, *Days Gone* first came to PC in 2021, after initially launching on PlayStation 4 in 2017. A remastered version, *Days Gone Remastered*, was then released on PS5 this April. While PC players who owned the original game received most of the improvements as a free update, this meant the original 2021 PC version was no longer available for download. Thankfully, that’s now been fixed.

To access these options, simply open the game’s settings within the Steam client and navigate to the “Beta” tab, where you’ll be able to select from the available choices.

  1. Patch 1.07 (the 2021 version of Days Gone).
  2. Patch 1.08 (the 2025 version, with improvementsfrom Days Gone Remastered).

This new option is a welcome change. Some players believe the reason for this is that version 1.08 still has many technical problems, particularly lag and sound issues. They suspect the developers decided it was simpler to allow players to continue enjoying the older, more stable version instead of addressing these problems.

The discussion around this change on the Steam forums quickly turned to requests for a sequel to *Days Gone*. Sadly, Sony doesn’t appear to be planning any further development of the game. This is unlikely to change soon, especially considering Bend Studio, the game’s developer, recently experienced significant layoffs, losing around 30% of its staff.
