David Lynch revolutionized American cinema with a hauntingly surreal aesthetic perspective in movies such as “Blue Velvet,” “Mulholland Drive,” and “Lost Highway.” His unique style combined horror, film noir, mystery, and classical European surrealism, particularly evident in his ’90s television series “Twin Peaks.” Currently, all of his films are available in 4K quality in newly released Blu-ray collections. Pre-orders for the upcoming 4K re-release of “Twin Peaks” on Amazon are now open.

In 2024, it was disclosed that Lynch had been diagnosed with emphysema due to a lifetime of smoking, which meant he could no longer leave his house to continue directing. His family announced his passing through a Facebook post, expressing, “A significant void has appeared in the world since he’s gone, but, as he often said, ‘Focus on the donut, not the hole.’
