As a longtime fan of Yvette Manessis Corporon’s enchanting novels, I find myself deeply immersed in her latest masterpiece, “Daughter of Ruins.” Having followed her career for years, I can attest to her knack for weaving historical and mythological elements into captivating narratives that resonate with readers.

For over seven years, Yvette Manessis Corporon, the author and former senior producer of “Extra,” has nurtured a dream of seeing her Greek-themed, historically rich, and mythology-infused novels transformed into television shows. This aspiration was born when her debut book “When The Cypress Whispers” hit shelves in 2014. Now, a decade later, she feels more optimistic than ever about cracking the code of Hollywood’s TV industry, as she vividly envisions her latest work as a captivating television series rather than any other novel from her collection.

Corporon shared with EbMaster during an interview that he’s been pitching his book ‘Daughter of Ruins’ for development into a TV series, saying, ‘From my lips to the ears of Reese Witherspoon’s production company, Hello Sunshine, and anyone else in TV production.’ He added, ‘Every author dreams of their book being adapted, and I’ve always held that dream for every single one of mine. This story, I can visualize so vividly, and I believe it has all the necessary components – the stunning landscapes, the rich symbolism through snakes, caves, and mythology, deep emotional narratives, well-crafted characters, relatable themes, and beautiful elements.’ He expressed his hope that it could become a series.

Taking place immediately following World War II and encompassing the remainder of the 20th century, “Daughter of Ruins” by Corporon, available from October 8, delves into Greece’s history, customs, and folklore. The narrative weaves together the lives of three women: Elena, a sex worker, Maria, a mail-order bride, and Demitra, an aspiring artist. Each woman strives to shape her own fate, endeavoring to become the individuals they were destined to be amidst their ongoing battles.

As a passionate cinephile, I can’t help but share my excitement about the recent praise for my novel “Daughter of Ruins” by Oprah Daily. Adam Glassman, their writer, has expressed his belief that it would make an outstanding adaptation. To say that I’m honored by this endorsement is an understatement. My heartfelt wish and fervent hope is that this transformation into a visual masterpiece becomes a reality. Among all my books, I truly believe that “Daughter of Ruins” has the potential to be transformed into a breathtaking multi-part series. Fingers crossed!

Currently, I find myself pondering over a fresh concept for my upcoming novel, drawing from my extensive experience as a multiple Emmy-winning senior producer on the syndicated entertainment news show “Extra.” While I’m not entirely closing the door on revisiting the tales of Demitra, Elena, and Maria beyond the conclusion of “Daughter of Ruins,” I must clarify that this isn’t my immediate plan. Instead, I’m passionately exploring new narratives set within the captivating realm of contemporary Greek history and mythology.

As a passionate film aficionado, I’d leap at the chance to revisit these cherished characters and families if given the opportunity. If there’s a publisher on board or a strong clamor from readers for a return visit, oh, how delightful that would be! However, at present, my focus lies elsewhere. I’m currently brainstorming a new concept, delving once more into modern Greek history, unraveling tales of art and cultural identity, and of course, food will play a significant role. For now, I won’t continue the current storyline, but who knows what the future holds? After all, never say never!
