The first episode of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 included a minor inconsistency regarding the backstory of Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and his teacher, Stick (Scott Glenn). The original Daredevil series on Netflix first introduced Stick in Season 1, establishing him as someone from Matt’s past who trained him to develop his abilities. While the show previously indicated Stick spent considerable time training Matt, earlier episodes showed Stick abandoning a young Matt after discovering he was still emotionally vulnerable.
The first episode of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 featured a mention of Stick while Matt Murdock was talking to Karen Page at their headquarters. Even after working together for years, Karen remains impressed by Matt’s fighting skills, admitting, “I will never figure out how you do that.”

Matt mentioned his intense training with Stick, but what he said doesn’t quite line up with the timeline presented in the Netflix series Daredevil.
“You know, years of brutal training from a borderline psychotic sensei.”

The MCU wiki states that Stick only trained Matt Murdock for a short time – just a few months – before dismissing him. This seems to contradict information presented in the Netflix series, potentially creating a timeline inconsistency or requiring a revision of previously established details.
For several months, Stick trained Matt Murdock, helping him sharpen his already incredible senses and become a skilled fighter. He planned to bring Matt into the Chaste, hoping he would eventually take Elektra’s place.

Matt’s intense training with Stick likely distorted his memories due to his young age, making the months feel much longer – perhaps like years. This explains why, in the first episode of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, he told Karen that the training lasted a long time.

The new Daredevil series on Disney+ is continuing the stories from the old Netflix show, even bringing back characters who previously died. This might be a way for the showrunners to revise some details from Matt Murdock’s past and create a consistent timeline.
Given Matt’s impressive combat skills, it would be more logical if he’d trained with Stick for several years, not just a few months.
The second season of Daredevil: Born Again features Matt Murdock and his allies working to end Mayor Fisk’s oppressive rule in New York City, which is now under Martial Law. The season began streaming on Disney+ on March 24th, with new episodes released every Tuesday at 9 p.m. Eastern Time. You can find more details about the season’s late release schedule here.
Will Stick Return Via Flashbacks In Daredevil: Born Again’s Future Seasons?

A brief mention of Stick in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again could hint at flashbacks featuring the character as the series continues on Disney+. Interestingly, Stick was killed by Elektra in the The Defenders series after he attempted to prevent her from taking Danny Rand (Iron Fist) and giving him to The Hand.
The show Daredevil: Born Again often brings characters back from the dead. Season 2 already confirmed flashbacks featuring Foggy Nelson and James Wesley, both of whom had previously died. There’s a good chance the same thing will happen with the character Stick in upcoming seasons.
If the character Stick reappears in flashbacks, the Daredevil: Born Again series could explore Matt Murdock’s past in more detail and connect it to existing storylines, such as the threat posed by The Hand – a group already set to appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Rumors suggest the villainous group, The Hand, will be back in Season 3 of Daredevil: Born Again. Their return might also allow the show to explore more of Stick’s past through flashbacks.
