Daredevil Actor Reveals the Real Reason Why Bullseye Saved Daredevil In ‘Born Again’ Season 2 (Exclusive)

As a huge fan of the Daredevil: Born Again series, I was really intrigued by Wilson Bethel’s recent comments about Bullseye. It seems like his seemingly random act of saving Matt Murdock in the Season 2 premiere wasn’t so random after all. Remember when Matt was fighting the Anti-Vigilante Task Force to rescue Cherry, and she nearly had a heart attack? That triggered some really painful memories for him, reminding him of Foggy’s death. He was totally vulnerable, about to be unmasked and beaten, when Bullseye unexpectedly stepped in and saved him – with a blade that said, “You’re welcome!” It makes you wonder what Bullseye is really up to, and Bethel’s hinting that there’s more to it than just a simple change of heart.

TopMob had an exclusive interview with Wilson Bethel, who plays Bullseye (Benjamin Poindexter), while he was promoting the upcoming seasons of Daredevil: Born Again and Imperfect Women. Bethel revealed that Bullseye’s primary goal is now to eliminate the Fisk family, which surprisingly aligns his motives with Daredevil’s – though Daredevil is looking for a way to resolve things without killing anyone.

TopMob: “Why does Poindexter save Daredevil at the start of Season 2?”

Bethel believes that Fisk is now the primary target for Matt, and their paths have simply crossed. While Matt doesn’t want to kill the Fisks, he does want to stop them from operating.

Bethel explained the uneasy partnership between Bullseye and Daredevil by stating that they were united by a simple principle: ‘The enemy of my enemy is my friend.’

They’re starting the season with a common goal – essentially, they’re united against a shared opponent. It’s interesting for us to watch how these two very different personalities will work together, and it promises to be quite entertaining.

Despite killing Foggy Nelson last year, Marvel Studios hinted that the character Bullseye might find redemption in the second season of Born Again.

Coming Up Next on Bullseye’s Daredevil: Born Again Redemption

With Jon Bernthal leaving the upcoming season of Daredevil: Born Again, Marvel seems to be focusing on Wilson Bethel’s Bullseye as a key adversary. While Daredevil has a more personal history with Bullseye than with Frank Castle, both characters will probably be forced to grapple with similar difficult choices when dealing with Wilson Fisk.

As a big fan of the show, I noticed something really interesting in Season 2, Episode 2. It seemed like Bullseye was much more focused on Vanessa Fisk than the mayor. It makes sense when you remember Vanessa basically used Bullseye to try and kill Foggy back in Season 1 – he ended up badly hurt and in prison, and I’m guessing that’s going to come back to haunt her, and likely drive a lot of the action going forward.

Bullseye probably won’t be thrilled to team up with Daredevil in Season 2, but he might see it as a necessary evil to eliminate the Fisks. Since Daredevil is leading the charge against them, Bullseye could view him as a way to finally get the kill he’s after.

In Episode 2, “Shoot the Moon,” Poindexter visited a church that previously aided Daredevil, first searching for Sister Maggie. When she wasn’t there, he began a period of self-punishment. Whether Bullseye truly wants to change remains to be seen, but it’s unlikely he’ll stop killing.

Fans consistently praised Wilson Bethel’s portrayal of Bullseye in both Daredevil Season 2 and Born Again Season 1, and he’s expected to be a major force in the current season. Some viewers have even suggested that Bethel’s Bullseye deserves his own standalone Disney+ special, similar to The Punisher: One Last Kill.
