Daniel Craig’s New Knives Out Movie Sees 40% Dip From Glass Onion Despite Topping Netflix Charts

As 2025 nears its close, Netflix released the latest installment in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out series, a highly anticipated film and one of the streaming service’s biggest releases of the year. Daniel Craig reprises his role as Benoit Blanc in this third mystery, and while the film is already proving popular, there’s a slight complication.

Netflix announced that “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery,” which premiered on December 12, 2025, quickly became the most-watched movie globally. It garnered 20.2 million views and a total of 49.2 million hours of watch time.

The latest film in the series saw a significant drop in viewers – around 40% – compared to the 2022 film, Glass Onion. Viewership was measured differently at the time Glass Onion was released, focusing on total hours watched. While Wake Up Dead Man reached 49.2 million hours viewed, Glass Onion achieved a much higher 82.1 million hours viewed.

The cast of Wake Up Dead Man features a number of well-known actors, including Glenn Close, Kerry Washington, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Cailee Spaeny, Andrew Scott, Thomas Haden Church, and Daryl McCormack. The film has also been well-received by critics.

Critics and audiences both love Wake Up Dead Man’s! It currently has a 93% rating from critics and a 94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on over 1,000 ratings. This makes it the highest-rated film in the trilogy with audiences, and the second highest with critics – only surpassed by the 2019 film Knives Out, which scored 97%.

In a review for ScreenRant, Mae Abdulbaki noted that the newest installment in the series has some enjoyable parts, and the actors are generally good. However, she pointed out that the film feels less mysterious and exciting than previous ones, making it difficult to fully enjoy.

I’m so excited! All three of the Knives Out mysteries – Knives Out, Glass Onion, and the newest one, Wake Up Dead Man – are now streaming on Netflix, so we can watch them all whenever we want!
