As a seasoned dance enthusiast and long-time fan of “Dancing With the Stars,” I must say that Tuesday night’s finale was nothing short of spectacular! The energy, emotion, and sheer talent on display were truly breathtaking.
SPOILER ALERT: This story contains spoilers from the Season 33 finale of “Dancing With the Stars.”
Season 33 of ‘Dancing With the Stars’ has finally declared its champion! The season concluded on Tuesday evening following the compilation of scores and public votes cast during the Nov. 20 semifinals, along with live viewer votes and scores from the grand finale. Ultimately, Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson were presented with the Len Goodman Mirrorball trophy.
Additionally, the voting record was shattered once again during the finale.
The evening got off on an unusual note, starting with a half-hour of pre-recorded clips detailing the contestants’ journeys, rather than the standard opening performance. Later on, famous figures from the season appeared for a group number set to Madonna’s “Holiday.
The program also delved into the headline-making events surrounding “DWTS” this season, such as when Anna Delvey appeared on stage during her performance of Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing,” and when speculated couple Jenn Tran and Sasha Farber, along with former partners-turned-lovers-turned-exes Gleb Savchenko and Brooks Nader, danced to Peaches & Herb’s “Reunited.
Meanwhile, throughout the night, Season 32 champions Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy showcased their moves to Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club.” Later on, Mark Ballas reappeared, partnering with Derek Hough, to perform the “Libertango” by Tango Bardo. This dance was a tribute to the roots of the Argentine Tango, which originally began between two male dancers.
Plus, the “DWTS LIVE 2025 Tour” pros took the floor for a routine to “Rush” by Troye Siva.
During the final competition, each duo showcased their skills not once but twice. First, they demonstrated a routine chosen by the judges as a chance for redemption, and then they displayed their creativity with a free-styled performance.
Notable moments encompassed Stephen Nedoroscik and Rylee Arnold initiating the competition, with Carrie Ann Inaba expressing that the absent Len Goodman would be immensely pleased. Subsequently, their freestyle, danced together with some of his gymnastics companions, moved everyone to tears and secured them a flawless score.
Tonight, the first flawless score of 30 (and their second of the season) was awarded to Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson for their redemption Cha Cha. Yet, their creative freestyle performance fell short in Inaba’s eyes, who described it as “not as impressive.
Danny Amendola and Witney Carson played the roles of Ken and Barbie in their vibrant freestyle dance number, which left the judges asking for more. Judge Hough described the act as “one of the most amusing spectacles I’ve ever witnessed during this program.
Reflecting back on my cherished memories from “Dancing With the Stars,” I found myself reminiscing with Alan Bersten as we prepared for our awe-inspiring freestyle performance to Chappell Roan’s “Feminomenon.” As the music played, I couldn’t help but feel empowered and radiant. Bruno Tonioli’s words echoed in my mind, “Ilona, you have truly become a commanding leading lady!” I felt a surge of pride and control as I stood among these exceptional dancers, always knowing that I was the one to watch.
As a passionate film enthusiast, I found myself captivated by the electrifying performance of Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong in the first round, which included an impressive jive. Inaba, with her keen eye for talent, acknowledged that their journey might have been one of the most challenging this season. Bruno Tonioli, a legend in his own right, expressed that their act went “beyond” redemption, a testament to their exceptional skill and dedication. Notably, they secured the second perfect 30 score of the evening. For their freestyle routine, Kinney and Armstrong beautifully paid tribute to trailblazing Black performers such as the Nicholas Brothers, adding another layer of depth and emotion to their dance.
