As someone who has followed Dan Abrams‘ career with great admiration, it is both surprising and expected to hear about his departure from NewsNation early next year. Surprising because he has been a consistent presence on the network, and expected because the man is a veritable juggernaut of media entrepreneurship.

Dan Abrams, who was among the initial notable figures on the evening lineup for Nexstar Media’s NewsNation, intends to depart from the team in the early part of next year.

As a dedicated cinephile sharing my thoughts, I found myself addressing viewers on Thursday evening with some news about “Dan Abrams Live,” our usual 9 p.m. program. You see, my professional commitments have expanded to such an extent that it’s become increasingly challenging for me to dedicate the required time for this show while nurturing and expanding my other ventures. I had to make a difficult decision, and so, I shared at the end of my show that these business responsibilities will demand my attention moving forward, making it impossible for me to continue hosting “Dan Abrams Live” as I have been doing.

Apart from being an entrepreneur, this individual manages multiple media ventures such as Mediaite, a platform dedicated to the media industry, and Bottle Raiders, a site for spirits reviews. Simultaneously, they host shows on SiriusXM and NewsNation. Additionally, they run the Law & Crime Network and the live weekend program “On Patrol Live,” while providing legal analysis for ABC News.

I spend significantly more hours on this program compared to any other activity. To be honest, juggling this show with managing and growing my businesses every day is simply impractical.

He is expected to remain as a contributor to the network.

Dan Abrams, who started working at NewsNation back in 2021, had a contract that extended for multiple years, signed in 2023. Initially, his show “Dan Abrams Live” was broadcasted at 8 p.m., but it was later shifted to 9 p.m. to make way for Chris Cuomo’s arrival.

The network, with personalities like Chris Cuomo, Elizabeth Vargas, Leland Vittert, and Ashleigh Banfield, hasn’t announced a successor yet. Abrams will likely continue hosting the NewsNation show until February.
