
A Pennsylvania man was hurt and then arrested after a homemade pipe bomb he was showing off at a party accidentally went off, injuring him.
Fifty-one-year-old Travis Peachey was hospitalized after being injured in a bomb explosion. According to ABC 33/40, Peachey told police he was preparing for guests and had made a pipe bomb as a form of entertainment. He reportedly placed the device on a wood pile in his backyard and was waiting for his guests to arrive when it detonated.
When Peachey found out the guests weren’t coming, he moved the bomb to his shed to try and take it apart. At the time, his wife and two children were inside the house and heard a blast coming from outside.
The aftermath of the accident
Peachey was hurt when the bomb he was handling went off in the shed. He immediately went inside and told his wife he needed medical attention.
He suffered facial injuries and damage to one eye. A fragment of metal was taken from his head as evidence. Investigators found a hole in the shed floor and traces of blood while searching the property.
Peachey faced multiple charges, including putting children at risk, having explosives, creating a dangerous situation, attempted aggravated assault, and reckless endangerment.
