A dad became popular online, not in a good way, when he was found instructing his son on how to deceive buyers by selling re-sealed Pokémon cards on the Whatnot platform.
Over the past year, there’s been a significant increase in the popularity of the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG). This surge has led numerous streamers and dealers to join platforms like Whatnot for live auctions of card packs. The rise in popularity, however, hasn’t only attracted genuine collectors but also unscrupulous individuals who reseal packs and resell them.
In a live stream lasting almost two hours, Whatnot user Pokerez609 hosted an event during which multiple packages were sold to viewers. As the broadcast continued, chat participants frequently alleged that the duo was manipulating their merchandise, but the father firmly maintained that the packages remained unaltered.
As the live broadcast reached its climax, everything took an unexpected turn when they unveiled a pack that held two identical reverse holo Pokeballs, one of which seemed suspiciously hidden behind the Energy card, raising some eyebrows.
I recently stumbled upon a lengthy video that’s been quite popular. In this clip, a father is instructing his son on an unscrupulous practice – scamming Pokemon collectors on Whatnot by selling resealed packs. Rather than imparting valuable lessons about honesty and integrity, he’s teaching his child to deceive buyers. It’s truly unfortunate.

Prepare for trouble, make it double
Following the revelation of their plan, the dad took the camera and acknowledged, “It seems our actions have been discovered. We must halt things here.” His son replied, “We’re finished. We can’t continue anymore.” However, the father contradicted him, saying, “No, we don’t have to stop completely. Just for now. We need to ensure everyone leaves first, and then we’ll try again.
The father could then be heard laughing and celebrating, saying, “We made a great amount.”
In the stream posted by DannypTCG on X, it appears that only one EX card and two questionable reverse holographic cards stood out as the real highlights. “The post alleges that instead of guiding and instilling good values in your child, you’re exploiting them for your deceitful schemes,” it continues. “It’s disheartening to see someone using their own child for underhanded tasks, which is both unfortunate and pitiful.
