A father from Denmark has earned a new Guinness World Record by writing and releasing a song declaring “I love you” in an incredible 521 languages.
Philip Halloun broke the world record for most languages in a single song by creating a birthday gift for his son, William. His song features more languages than the previous record holder, Suneet Haran of India, who used 398 languages in 2024.
Halloun, age 41, created the track by combining his knowledge of many languages with translation software. He finished it on William’s first birthday, and deliberately included 521 languages – a nod to the date, May 21st.
How Philip Halloun created the 521 language song
The musician, fluent in Danish, English, and Arabic, with some knowledge of Hebrew, French, and Chinese, explained that this project was meant to be a meaningful and enduring keepsake for his child.
He explained he wanted the birthday gift to be a meaningful expression of his love. He hoped setting a challenging goal – something lasting and memorable – would show how much he cared. The guitar melody, he shared, was a tune he composed before his son was born and played to him constantly, both before and after his birth.
After twenty years of writing and producing music – including projects for artists globally – Halloun is attempting a record, even though his extensive experience didn’t make the process easy. He and his wife, Dina, are also expecting their second child.
Honestly, the hardest part of making this song was getting the pronunciation right in all those different languages. I wanted it to sound smooth and natural, not choppy. The song is literally ‘I love you’ in every language, so it’s my way of telling someone I’ll always love them, no matter what, and saying it in every way possible. It’s a pretty personal message, really.
While the track was dedicated to William, Halloun said he also wanted it to reach a wider audience.
He hopes the song and album will spread love, especially to those who are hurting. He also expressed his excitement about achieving a world record, recalling fond childhood memories of reading the Guinness World Records books with his brother and feeling proud to now be included in it.
This isn’t the first instance of a father setting a Guinness World Record while trying to entertain his kids. Last November, a father from Sweden became an internet sensation after successfully stuffing 81 matchsticks up his nose – all to impress his children.
